2/3 game with $300 effective stacks

Don't have much on Villian as this was shortly after starting a brand new table. However he had his girl sitting behind him and didn't seem too familiar with live poker based on him not fully understanding where the chips come from.

Hero on button with 87o limps along with 6 other players.
Pot $21

Flop 852 rainbow

Checks all way to Hero on button, bets $15
Villain (UTG) only caller
Pot $51

Turn 7d
Villain leads with $25
Hero raises to $60
Villain Calls
Pot $171

River Jc
Villain leads again for $50. However, when I ask how much the bet is he answers "$100". Dealer looks at me and says "no, 50"

Pot $221 pending my action. Any guesses?

Call.

Raising is slightly too thin. Ime I always end up losing more by being greedy in spots like this with a relative info deficit. The value to be had is thin, not fat.

It sucks when he flips over a piss-poorly played over pair that woulda called a raise (which is kinda what it looks like), but there should be a lot of times where this is a set or straight, which make perfect sense given the preflop action. But there's enough times where it's a worse hand, which is why you settle for just a call.

I'm cool with overlimping for cheap in position preflop and getting into a hand.

I'm also betting the flop when checked to me, mostly just to protect my equity although it's always possible we can get called by worse.

I would just call the turn. We got into a eleventeen way limped pot, there's a rule about not going broke in a limped pot and raising perhaps starts bringing stacks into play. Top two pair is a decently strong hand, but it is nowhere nuttish enough to want to play for stacks (imo). Having said that, in this case we're up against a noobish type guy who probably has no clue of relative hand value (ex. tricky lol AA who will want to play for stacks), so if we're going to attempt to play for stacks against one guy, it might be him. But I still just call in position knowing I can always put in a bet on the river and win a decent pot while not risking too much for the strength of my hand.

Weird spot on the river with him declaring more than he actually put in, and the bet being fairly lol small. I typically err on the side of caution readless, so I would probably just call and see what the hell is going on.

Ya just call. If he goes nuts on a bad river you might find a fold but I'm pretty happy with my hand at this point.

Also not nearly enough description of girlfriend. More info pleas.

If there were any good details of girlfriend to report I would have added them with a lot more detail than the actually hand. This guy is about as good at poker as he is at picking up girls.

Thanks for the feedback. A little more on my thought process before I unveil how Villain's next level poker strategy worked out.

Yes, I could have just called his turn bet, but I rarely see a noobish player like this c/c big hands on the flop, especially a pot w this many players. So, I did not think he flopped a set or 2 pair. I made the turn raise for 2 reasons, 1) pick up the pot now against a weirdo that I have no reads on. 2) Set up a river jam with favorable river card.

When he just calls my turn raise I am even more convinced he doesn't have my hand beat. However, the second donk bet combined with the $50 bet announced as $100 made my head spin. I elected to call just to put this mind numbing hand behind me. If you guessed he had 9T for the nuts, congratulations! So, in closing, his "next level poker strategy" worked out quite well actually!

Anyone think he folds to a bigger turn raise? Me neither.

Cheers.
