Hero (covers) - Late 20s/early 30s looking white dude. Not much history with villain, as he's only been at table for about 30 hands and I haven't been doing much.

Villain ($600) - Late 20s/early 30s looking white dude. Pretty loose pre, raising semi-frequently from CO/BTN. Have seen him limp/fold twice from EP/MP when it folded back around to him. He takes his time when he has a tough decision or is hollywooding with the nuts, and acts reasonably quickly when his hand plays itself otherwise.

2/5NL - 9handed

UTG limps, Villain limps in MP, Hero raises 89 in CO to 25, both blinds call, UTG folds, Villain calls.

Flop ($98) : Q95
Checks to Hero, Hero checks.

Turn ($98) : 8
Blinds check, Villain bets $60, Hero raises to $170, blinds fold, Villain calls quickly.

River ($438): J
Villain checks reasonably quickly (probably about 5 seconds), Hero...

OTT, the blinds were still reasonably interested in the hand, but it was pretty clear they didn't have anything made at this point. Blinds were both > 100bb deep as well.

Input is welcome on every street, as I think the whole line is potentially debatable.

Hand is played well imo.

The J is like the nut bad card for villain's lead/calling range ott so pretty sure its a clear check back. I mean there is like nothing worse that can call us, and I doubt you're folding out 2pr.

I'm fine with your line. The most interesting street to debate is the flop imo, because the rest pretty much play themselves. Maybe raise turn slightly bigger, definitely check behind river. I assume you're considering turning your hand into a bluff but I think that's pretty inadvisable.

this. check back and expect to see a flush or str8 trying to trap you. literally nothing you beat calls a bet.

With the quick b/c on the turn and the river check in rhythm, I'm thinking his range is mostly 2pair here, right? Even sets are going to at least think about putting in a 3rd bet on the turn since I'm the PFR and most people don't raise JT/67.

For turn play only, I don't mind flatting turn on such a wet board against someone that seems to be more competent than a level-1 fish since we have so much SD value and don't wanna get blown off the hand because of board texture if he jams to our raise cuz I think we have to fold if he does. I'd rather pot control on super wet boards like this even though he only has 600

Grunching ...

Check-back river, seems like this opponent will not call with worse.

Think your line is ok. Originally thought of betting the flop, but re-read post and noted the number of opponents. Fine with the check.

Check back the river, and hold your cards until villain shows his hand.

Hero is new to the table and needs this info.

Well played.

Love the c/r on the turn. But what was the plan if Villain raises back on the turn, or leads the river?
