bluffing with 55 is terrible for mutiple reasons. u have 2 outs at most. if villain calls there id no guarantee shell fold AK to multiple streets esp when board is draw heavy. also she may trap with AQ and sets sometimes and then u bluff off your stack. finally she may check flop with AT AJ for pot control alot which yes even winning regs do. this leans her range heavily towards AK+.
and yes i prefer donk leading with set here

History: Villain just returned from a dinner break. Only hand I saw her play she tank-folded turn after calling a flop while stating she thinks she had the best hand. I've been pretty active.

Villian ($750) raises $25 in EP. Cutoff calls. Hero ($1250) calls with 99 in SB. BB calls. 4 ways to flop.

Flop: AQ9

Should I stop here and ask if lead out or CR is preferable?
results?

Donking is the worst option as you will just fold out a lot of cbet money. Check-raising is fine if very shallow. But I would prefer to let them keep the initiative until the river if stacks require >= bet, bet, bet line.
I was wondering if someone would bring this line up. this is an interesting hand cause it seems like all 3 options can really be viable

I think I like leading here still for reasons that have already been posted.

Check/call is good in really tough games where opponents will think you're capped and will bluff/value bet wide/overbet later streets. Doubt that will be the case in most 2/5 games.

1. Sorry for the shameless title. I thought the hand had some interesting options and although I won the max (not a bad beat thread), I'm not sure I like the way I played it. However, if I made it to the river in this hand, I'm probably folding...

2. Board on Turn: AQ9T. With even more draws on board now, I do not want to play the river OOP. If I bet a medium amount, my opponent can now play draws perfectly. I assume I'm getting it in on the turn vs. 2pr and higher sets.

3. I bet $375, she shoves $209 more (I might have had some numbers a tad off earlier), I call and hold vs. AT.

River is J Good thing I wasn't playing poker on the river.

I really enjoyed reading these posts and now agree that more often than not, lead out is better than CR. Thanks, all!

another good example on why it's bad to slowplay sets - gross board by the river and there's no way you could think you're good by then. Good thing you were all in before.
