2/5, $800 effective, 9 handed.

Villain is clearly a loose rec playing super passively pre and more aggressive post, but not super aggressively, still pretty stationary on flop. Of note, villain got caught double barrel bluffing with J high, no draw, after he x and PFR x otf. Hero should have a TAG image, if villain cares at all.

OTTH

Hero opens A♠️ Q♠️ LJ $25 and only villain calls in BB.

Flop ($52): A♦️ J♥️ 8♣️. Villain checks. This is where it gets weird, for some reason I said the pot was $100 in my head and I wanted to bet pot on the flop vs this villain on this board. I've never made an error like this before, but I bet $100. Villain tank calls.

Turn ($252): 7♠️. Villain checks. Considering I've never c bet 2x pot before, I really didn't know what to do. I feel like we should be betting here vs a fish. We check.

River ($252): T♣️. Villain instantly leads $175. Hero?

Yea against rec bet turn even after the big flop bet. Works better than checking for sure.

Probably wouldn’t call 175 without a straight when he ckc 100, pretty narrow.

Problem here is that every plausible Ax he can have by the river is ahead of you - Looks a lot like A10 or A9, both of which got there on the river (and also J10). Agree that checking back turn is problematic. I'd go about 150-175 on the turn in this spot.

The problem is figuring what he calls a 2x pot bet with on the flop because as described villain sounds like he's going to bet widely once you check behind turn. He's not "super aggressive" but the hand of note you described he work up and fired turn and river with Jhi. You said double barrel after checking preflop and flop so I assume that means firing turn and river.

Maybe he could've put you on scared KK or QQ on the flop and thinks his A + poor kicker is good.

All straights but QT got there ott/r and he still has sets. Fold. Sounds like a player who would call 100 w a gutter/oesd.
