V in Mp is aggressive but I haven’t seen any showdowns, we have no history, his speech makes him seem like he is thinking and he likes to raise pre. I’ve been playing tight and have had the second best hand all night it seems

JJ with Js
800 effective in sb

V raise to 20
Folds around I call (given we are less than 200bb, and I am out of position I need to 3 bet so that’s mistake 1, let’s ignore that)
Bb calls

Flop Qs3c4s pot 60
Checks to V
V bets 45
BB is preparing to fold
I call

Turn
3s pot 150
I check
V bets 105
I call
(I think I should raise here, this card massively changes the board texture)

River
5c pot 360
I check
V bets 245

I fold.

I’m not a fan of how I played this hand, it was too passive.

Should I have any bluff raises on this river?
Do I want to bluff with the lone As? Or would I prefer to not have it so that he can have it.

Definitely three-bet preflop; you should pretty much never flat-call a raise in the small blind.

As played, I would check/fold the turn. Our hand isn't worth two streets of value.

When facing a loose raiser in MP, it is a 3bet pf from the SB with JJ. As played, I just fold the flop. You've got a "maybe" hand. Maybe it might be ahead, but you're oop and there is an overcard. You're going to lose a lot more money than you can potentially win. If he has air, he's giving up after the flop. He can just check behind on the turn to see if he can get lucky.

Having the Js isn't super relevant here. You don't block too many of his c-bet bluff flush draws and there are some reverse implied odds going on If our opponent have a hand like Ax with As.

I agree, 3-bet pre, you need that initiative bonus and fold equity bonus. AP, I'm fine with a flop call but I'd fold to the turn bet.

As played, I'd fold turn.

Flop texture is relatively favorable to continue with most of his range. Once he bets the turn, fold with a FD blocker. He may have an AcXx hand, but his sizing looks like value with many hand combos ahead of 2nd pair.

Pre - given the opponent's opening range, 3b to $90 for value.

How could you possibly know that he's giving up after the flop with air? Makes no sense to assume that.

IF he is giving up after the flop, why are you advocating folding otf? If that were true, would make much more sense to call flop and fold ott, since he's never bluffing the turn, according to you. Pretty inconsistent logic here.

I won't hate the flat too much but whatever just 3b it anyway. I know you have 800 in front and he's agro but just do it and fight for the pot.

Should you have a bluff on this river, yes. Not terribly often but sometimes you should. I think you want weaker hands than this, such as the naked A, but what naked A do you even get here with? I don't really know the answer but probably not many. Do you ever c/c a nfd? This or TT/99 is about as weak as you get so if you want bluffs just spaz out with this hand like 3% of the time to balance when you have a boat or nf. This is about as good bluff hand as you can get.

I think you prefer to have the As so he doesn't have it. I just don't think you get here with the naked A very often. Nice card to c/r flop with though.
