[2/5] TT in 3bet pot, I have a gutshot

Villain plays for a living, tends to play very tight pre but will occassionally open up his range in good spots, and will squeeze light. Plays aggressive post, good hand reader, has a lot of history with hero - has seen hero bluff and bluff large in a number of spots, has also seen hero make big folds of overpair hands and has used that read to make hero fold the best hand at least once.

Hero is sLAG, just called villain a nit during friendly table conversation. Has been losing and possibly tilting. Fold to 3bet is like 10-20%, probably 10% from UTG villain knows this

Hero opens to $30 in UTG+1 with TTafter having opened to $20 last two hands, slightly loose caller in LP, villain raises to $150 from the SB - first 3bet of the night from him, hero has been 3betting a decent amount - hero calls, caller folds.

Flop: 678 ($330)
Villain bets $150, we...

Stack sizes are only slightly extremely crucial here

OMGosh you're right, sorry. Stack sizes are $700 on the flop

You make a large raise UTG and V makes their first large 3b of the night from SB. More likely to be value than squeezing. I’d probably just fold pre. As played if you think V squeezes AK AQ and bets a wet board with it then jam it in. Otherwise fold if Vs range is more heavily weighted towards JJ+

why exactly did we flat a huge 3 bet like this pre if we were ever going to fold this flop?

tournament obvious raise to get it in unless we think he is just one of those tight players that piles it in every time with his tight range, we might want to flat and call off the double barrel turn.

in cash game i kind of want to flat. obvious the times we make are hand on turn thats a good spot. when the 3 comes we probally have to raise if he checks and call his bet. obvious the bad card for us is if an ace comes and he bluffs it with his kq and we fold and lose so i can see why a lot of people want to raise. don't know its kind of a close spot, again for some reason i want to flat.

Re: [2/5] TT in 3bet pot, I have a gutshot

this feels a little like a reverse hand where OP is actually VIL and got it in on the flop with something like AA/KK and lost to the gutter.

but as described, Hero has to call. Vill knows that Hero is never folding to a 3-bet, raised early, and Vill will be OOP for the entire hand vs a sLAG that will make life difficult. That heavily weights their range to high PPs and overs (so TT+, AJs+, AQo+).

Vill should also be betting this amount on most flops - so don't think it says a lot about their hand. Hero flopped an overpair and draw, has position, and should have a much better read on Vill's hand than vill can have on theirs. I can't imagine calling pre to fold to this flop. Raising just value-owns you. So call.

Why did you open 20, 20, then 30?

The larger sizing makes the 3bet size prohibitively expensive and not good enough IO’s to flat.

It's really awkward with these stack sizes...but I think its just a call with so much equity vs his range, but the problem is this type of V likely shuts down his bluffs and checks his value hands on lots of turn cards.

we will have zero fold equity if he bets even 1/2p OTT, so do we jam any turn card he checks to us?

I'm assuming it's straddled pre? You can consider folding this preflop given his huge raise size and the relative positions.

As played flop you can jam or call; both have benefits. Jam if you think there's ever a chance villain folds black KK.

No straddle pre, I usually open first in to $20 or $30 depending on how tight or loose the table is playing and what my range looks like
