Agreed. Both call or fold are fine preflop.

I think the turn is the critical point in the hand. You should fold or c/r to about $300. You'd have $600 left for a river shove into a pot of $780. Your c/r would have a ton of leverage. You probably don't have the IO to just call when you're oop. V probably won't pay you often enough to make calling profitable if you hit.

As played, call the river. V could have overplayed KK+ or AQ. V has a very wide range and you could also be crushed by a lot of hands. KT, QJ, J9, 55, etc are all reasonable holdings. I don't think V calls with worse if you shove.

I'm going for a flop or turn c/r. As played I'm a nit and I'd 100% c/r the turn to $450ish. It just looks so strong and a player with a fold button is dumping most one pair hands.

Folding pf is fine too, IMO.

Not sure how I ended up in such an 'old' thread .. but ...

OP states ..
1) History w V .. good V .. V 'runs good' v Hero even when Hero is strong
2) V bets large on River when aggressor in hand
3) He has it when called but gets folds too
4) Hero tank checks River when a 'money' card hits River
5) Hero has c/c Flop and Turn

Even if V has a hand here all of this screams of a pretty weak Hero holding. I think Hero has an above average holding against the c/c 'line' Hero has taken here. So we have a glimmer of hope that V range is a bit wider here.

A) V has 'never' been caught bluffing/super weak at showdown?
B) Assume V doesn't put Hero on Jx here at all due to tank check?
C) Does V expect Hero to call down with all Qx or better 'weak' hands?

Ordinarily I would think we need to fold here based on V history. I have a few regs I face that I take this line with, as V, and I basically always have a pretty good hand since I 'expect' to keep getting looked up since Hero will continue to try and catch the one time I'm bluffing.

That being said I think the tank-check might inspire V to bet here in order to avoid a showdown. V knows Hero has something ... and IMO V think Hero has 2pr-WK at best. Does V really think Hero is afraid of KT on River after calling the Turn and making trips? Doubtful, so I think we can c/c here 'more often' against this V 'standard' line. Sure we may see KT/99/QQ/AJ/KJ/QJ/55 (assuming V would open with KJ/QJ/KT) but I think there are enough combos of AA/KK/AQ/KQ out there?

What does the V stare mean to us? Both the Hero tank-check and V stare really put this hand into a spin for me.

V seems to be good, offering barely better than 2 to 1 on his 'standard, got-it' River bets is hard to call into .. I guess I have become my own V and hope that we 'finally' Rivered this guy .. sigh call .. GL
