Hero (about 850) tight image. Pretty card card and couldnt win a hand.

Villain TAG. Saw him play 1/2 a couple of days ago. It looks like he isnt used to play 2/5 and that he is a bit uncomfortable and very careful. Maybe he isnt rolled for it idk. Seems to play somewhat solid. Never saw him limp, he always raises and plays his hands aggressively. When he got involved in bigger pots he always had the nuts or close to it.

Btn straddle, sb folds, villain completes in the bb (got a gift before, stack around 1500), utg+1 raises to 30, hero 3b to 100 in hj with AK, co calls, btn calls, villain calls which surprised me a lot and utg+1 calls.

Flop (500) AT4
checks to us we bet 150, only villain calls.
Turn (800) AT49
villain checks, hero?

I’m going $300 or so OTT and try to get it in here. More likely V has AQ/AJ or another AK than a hand you’re losing to. Too low of a SPR than try to fold or pot control.

all in, but I would have jammed the flop.

I dont think villain is ever calling ott or otr for his whole stack unless he has 2p+ even though the spr is very low.
So I thought I will get him to call 1 more smallish bet.

What do you think about a check back ott for deception and bet otr/ call a bet? Or bet now ott but risk him folding worse aces?

I don’t think bombing the turn is a great move. I think bet small or check both have merit.

100% checking back turn. Yeah you're giving a free card but v as described is never stacking off with aq/aj and the board is super dry.

Were way ahead or he has TT/44/AT

Betting the turn is standard 1/3 fish stuff

I would have bet $250 on flop. Board is dry but there are a bunch of bad draw high card possibilities.

When villain calls I'm slowing down. Given your description I would suspect a set a lot. There just isn't much else for him to have in a 3 bet pot given the action. Outside chance of AK, which is unlikely to flat to begin with but makes sense for flatting the 3 bet. A pocket pair makes sense, he isn't happy about your stack size but 2 other people have flatted already.

I'm not thinking about villain having worse AX. He wouldn't flat those to begin with unless he was going for an odd limp/raise and he would give those up as too dangerous when pot is 3 bet.

My plan would be check turn and consider a small bet on river depending on action. It's possible that he has QQ/JJ that was going for a limp/raise to begin with and decided to flat the 3 bet. I would be just checking back the river a lot.

We have TPTK with a 1.5 SPR. Not sure how we're not just piling money in. I'd probably size up OTF a bit to make it even easier to GII OTT vs dominated aces. If we go $300, turn will be at least $1100 with us having just 450 left. Even 1/2 pot makes it 1k OTT with $500 behind.

The main q here is what is his limp/call range in this spot. Have you seen him play any other hands from the blinds or ep with the btn straddle on? How long have you been playing with him? I think the conservative assumption here is that he has no raising range from the blinds and continues vs the 3b with like AQs+/TT+ (but 4b some with AA/KK). Your hand is not really strong enough to bet turn against his flop continuing range here then, although if he folds AK to a jam here then you could consider that.

I have never seen him limp before. Thats why I was really surprised that he limp-overcalled the 3b.

Check check ott.
River (800) 8
villain bets 300, hero calls, villain has A8

Would have never expected to see that hand.
