Curious on this spot...

Eff Stacks 500

Mp 1 tight solid gent (will open pretty standard pp or face cards) opens 20 I co with red TT 3b 65, bb younger tightish 5/10 kid calls, mp folds.. Flop AQ10r, bb cks, I 75, bb tank calls, turn K [now fd spades], ck, ck rvr 5s backdoor flush comes in, bb leads 125... Hero?

I probably don't 3bet pre. Any particular reason you did?

I can't really see him showing up with any jacks here, I guess this is the reason you are thinking about raising? If you want to bluff raise the flop spade is really important. If it was the A it takes away a lot of his flush combos, which is good for you. Would bb think you would 3bet light a single opener and no callers?

Honestly don't know what else he can have other than AK/AQ/QQ. As a default I just shrug and call. I don't see what better hands we can bluff raise out on the river.

Raising river is terrible imo. You are never getting a straight to fold and I don't think V ever has a set bigger than yours. I think this is really close between calling and folding. Do you think V is capable of turn 2 pair type showdowns hands into bluffs? If so, I call.

@twin

I know its not std but The 3 bet just seemed like a good spot to do it in...

Bu was a good player who will over call widish with io hands so i wanted to ensure the button if possible...

Orig opener had been abusing me post a little bit and i felt like i prob had the best had pre so I raised for value...

I honestly expected this to either fold around or to just get called by the orig opener and be able to play it Hu IP

Is it really that close? BB hardly has any value hands. AQ requires T on the flop, maybe AJs (if he even calls that pre OOP, questionable).

Other than those 2 exact hands, I don't see how BB can have a J or spades given he cold called a 3bet pre OOP.

OP, which card was the spade on the flop?

JJ or AJ of any suit seem like they'd play that way close to all the time. Depending on how spewy he's playing today (he's playing lower than usual so assuming on the spewy side) he could even flat AJo pre here. I'm not saying river's an easy fold but I just am not sure how often people actually bluff these runouts and he has more value hands than you think.

I agree that raising the river is a bad idea. I'm curious though why did you bet so small on the flop? I mean 1/2 pot isn't necessarily bad or anything but that flop hits a good portion of his range, most of which you're way ahead of but has outs, so I'm curious why you wouldn't bet a bit larger to get more value/charge his AK/AQ/AJ/JJ hands to draw?

I want to say it was the ten spades on flop and ya In general i think bigger would have been ok on flop, but i wasn't expecting such a crap turn card.. Also i would have been able to get stacks in pretty easy by the river if i had been able to bet turn as orig planned..

As played he taank called my flop bet
But the call actually surprised me bc it felt like his tank call was going to be a tank ship on the flop...

He cut out three 25 chips for a call, then stacked them back on all his green (25) chips like he was going to slide it in instead.. Then thought better of it and only threw in the call..

This is a rare spot I'd shamlessly make a huge bet on the flop. I definitely wouldn't raise the river.
