Haven't posted for a while but thought I could learn a notch from this hand. V is a bit loosey-goosey. V considers h a nit/tag. Otth

Hand: Ahjd
Stack: 1200 (400-500 effective)
Blinds: 2.5/2.5
Position: Mp

Pre: h 7.5. V 30 from lp. H calls.
Flop (65) AcQh7h: h x. V 40. H calls.
Turn (140) 8: h x. V 120. H calls.
River (380) 6h: h?

pre is a fold, flop and turn are standard.

river kinda weird, don't think people ever value bet thin enough here so this is one of the times i actually like a donk lead, maybe a blocker-looking bet.

I agree. I'm not a fan of leading into the aggressor as a general rule; however, v is betting almost never on this river, but will probably call a bet if it's not huge.

Fold pre to the 3bet. As played shove river.

Really bad preflop.

We are OOP, facing a large 3bet, with a dominated hand w/ a NITTY image. V also has less than 15x his 3!; so we shouldn't ever really be calling here unless you are going to flat KK+ here as well.

*AP, you have to bet small, like 150, and hope to get tilty crying calls from AA, QQ but I expect those will fold most of the time since your donk OTR is never anything but a flush.

Thanks! I seem to overvalue ajo even though it doesn't play well in 3! Pots postflop oop. Need to adjust a bit.

Results:
Spoiler:
H donks for 120. V calls and shows 9tss and takes the pot with the straight.

Kindly inform the dealer you have a flush then?

Oh i see what happened....... he put the colon before h so it’s Hero checks, and im assuming he meant that the 8 was a brick.

River you just need to rip it in or give up

My OP probably caused some ambiguity due to the colon and h after it.. turn wasn't a heart nor did it bring the backdoor club draw. I think we can safely rep the flush OTR due to our passive flop and turn calls + having the blocker.

The big (and probably obvious) learning for me here is not to overvalue ajo pre though.
