6handed and deep. I have 3k, BB has 4.5k and moved here recently from a broken tabke, UTG has over 8k, CO is OMC folding way too often and nut peddling on 700, BTN has over 4k

The BB has been pushing to make this an even bigger game by opening to 40 when he comes in for a raise and straddling every opportunity. Has 3berrelled a couple hands to TID on river uncontested and played a 4bet pot where he check folded an A high flop. Otherwise has not shown down in the 45 minutes he has been here despite being very active. Youngish Australian.

UTG folds, hero opens next to act 20 Q8

CO calls, BTN calls, SB folds, BB calls

874

Checks around.

K

BB leads for 50, everyone calls

Q

Bb bets 500

Hero?

Q8s...6 handed but still, I fold that junk to avoid these spots.

Could co or btn have slowplayed 65s? Co particularly as described could just have it here. Bb himself could have it as well, is he crazy enough to pile it in and try to get 3 folds?

Top of your range here really, only KQ would arrive at this spot this way. 88 or 77 you'd bet flop 100%. Sucks but it's probably gotta be a call.

Should be a fold, hes BB so he can have all 16 combos of 56 and the 7 combos of sets. Hes very aggressive so maybe he would squeeze 88/77 sometimes, but not all the time.

In these overbet spots you should look for hands that block the nuts instead of your direct hand strength. 86/85/76/75 without a diamond would be good bluffcatchers. Should be 8 combos, and then 12 combos with diamonds.

Because of how large the bet is you're supposed to fold most of the time, so you have to be selective about which combos you call with. otherwise you will just get owned in the long run calling too much or folding too much vs a balanced overbet strat

He led 500 into 3 players in a pot of 280 and we still have 2 players to act behind us. Congrats to him if he's bluffing, but I just don't think it's worth a call.

Probably need to add reads on BTN.

He is a weekend rec player but IMO one of the top 5 players in the room. Not worried about OMC because we would have heard from him earlier.

The BTN is a loose player who has a couple of leaks but if he joined a study group or took the game more seriously he would crush. I have a ton of respect for him. His main leak is that he folds river too often and I have used that read to bluff him off some spots in the past.

But overall he is really good at hand reading. Maybe the best hand reader in the room

BB is who bet turn/river in OP

BTN has only checked flop/overcalled turn

either there is an error in this post/the OP or this info isn't really helpful

Heads up I would agree, but calling with 86 in a spot with 2 players left to act....no way dude. I think there's no way those hands are good, if you do call you're not only counting on beating the bb but you're counting on the 2 guys behind you folding better hands because of how strong your call looks. If you're going to call with anything in this spot you should call with this hand and kq. If you want to shrug and just fold your entire range to this bet I wouldn't blame you, but it's weak play imo.
