2/5 NL @ Parx Sunday morning 11:30am.

V1 (3.5k) - Deep stacked reg. Likes to see flops and willing to gamble big with weaker draws at times.

V2 (1k) - Sitting on 1k, just recently sat down. Word is he played a long session last night and got coolered a few times.

Hero (275) - Just bought in for 300 a few orbits ago, no hands of note so far.

V1 limps in EP, V2 limps in LP, Hero in SB raises to $35 w/ AK, V1 folds, V2 calls.

Flop ($70) - Q 9 3

Hero leads for $50, V2 calls

Turn ($170) - 4

Hero open shoves $190

...any thoughts on this hand. Feels reckless but don't think he's gonna call often at all.

I don't play half-stacks, so not really sure, but it seems fine. You're repping AQ/KK/AA no heart pretty well. Of course you're also repping AhKx pretty well, so if he doesn't have the Ah, you may get more calls than you think, but still seems OK, because you have a lot of outs against hands that don't include Ah.

You say you're not sure if he calls often at all...

Well, on average, I think I WANT him to call... with say KxJh, JhTx, AhXx, etc.

I think your shove is more value bet than bluff. He's probably never folding Qx.

When he does fold to your shove, you're often bluffing with the best hand.

Nut no pair + second nut flush draw is strong here imo. I think I prefer check/shove.

With around 1 PSB left, I might play my hand as the nuts and check to villain with the goal to trap another bet against a range of hands that include so many combos with surprisingly little equity against us. Then I check/shove. He could bet turn with KxJh, AxJh, KxTh, AhXx, (it has equity, but not a ton against our better Ax), JT with or without a heart, etc. And if he shows up with a hand, you have a ton of outs.

By the way, hero has close to 80% equity against unpaired unsuited hands with the Ah.

We have the nut ace.

If V was described as aggressive, I would agree. However I think the above range, save perhaps AhXx, would be checked by a typical opponent many more times than bet. I prefer to maintain the initiative.

Looks good. You're only really in trouble against made flushes, AhQx, Ah9x. You're the favorite against all other AhXx, JhTx. Only a slight dog to Jh9x, QxJh. Plus FE makes all your decisions correct.
