Been at the table a couple of orbits. Villain has around $300 and is a white middle aged seemingly non-regular. Has not done anything remarkable limp called and limp folded some, raised once. Seems sticky with draws.

I have played a couple of hands but not gotten to showdown so I would not expect villain to have any read on me.

On to the hand, I have AJ UTG + 1 and raise to $20. Folds to villain in the SB who min raises to $40. Folds to me and I flat. I think folding is an option.

Flop ($85) A K J rainbow - Villain leads for $30. Well I flopped Top and Bottom two pair in a low SPR situation but I'm thinking of folding.

Turn ($145) 4 completing the rainbow. Villain leads for $100. Easy fold correct?

Advise, beratement on every street appreciated.

Definitely fold that oh so pretty hand to the 3 bet. Deeper its fine to call and try to cooler him, but his range is strong and AJ has lots of RIO.

AJ is the worst RIO hand to call a raise with. I'd rather you called with JT or J9 than AJ.

As played, you are paying off AA, KK, AK 95% of the time here.

Only reason I'd call a PFR with AJ is if I'm in position calling a player with a super wide raising range. And then in that case, I'm probably 3-betting 50% of the time...

But yeah, eff stacks are only $300, you were min-raised by the SB FFS, seriously, you gotta fold those pretty suited connectors.

Calling with a RIO hand merely because it's a pretty suited connector is what fish do

or put another way, whenever our plan is to flop/turn the nuts then its not a good spot to be in when calling a raise (especially when we aren't getting 15:1 or better in implied odds).

easy peezy fold pre

Calling flop is fine imo. Probably folding turn though. And I know the preflop 3 bet is very small but I am inclined to fold AJ, just a bad hand against Vs 3 betting range.

With 60 BB...need to be playing a tight short-stack strategy...calling 3 bets with AJ is not included in this strategy. I'm folding this pre all day to 3 bet. As played...fold it on the turn.
