Maryland Live $2/5

Relevant players:
Villain UTG+1: Asian in his 50s. playing relatively loose aggressive. seems to like to take initiave in pots when uncontested. Haven't gotten too out of hand. Stack is around 900

Hero SB: Young TAG player. won a couple 3bet pots pre and won most cbets. Just had a hand (unrelated to villain) where I tank called someone's shove after he bet called me on a flop/turn in a 3 bet pot with 9Tdd on a 73Qdd7Qd and he had JJ. He beratede for thinking so long so might be viewed tight.

Hand:
Limp, Villain raises to 15(avg raise is around 15-25), 2 more limps, and I make it 60 in the SB, fold Villain makss it 250, rest folds, hero??

Villain asked how much I had in my stack and mentioned how are stacks were almost similar before raising, if that helps

That's a huge 4-bet. Any thoughts on why? I generally fold here, even given the laggy V. We are pretty dang deep, 4-bet is way too big to flat, and 5-bet is basically turning our hand into a bluff.

Isn't AK always a bluff pre? His sizing is damn good imo, allows him to play perfectly. I want to see more replies since to be honest I overplayed AK a lot anf "fixed" it by underplaying it a lot. I have no clue how to play it well.

Is this villain first 4bet?

Yeah I played with him for about an 2 hours. Seemed to have a weak passive style of play overall. This was also his first 4bet all game

Hero also covers with a stack of 1100

Super easy fold. Your line is very strong and he just raised you big. Villain wants to put a lot of chips into this pot....a lot more than we do, and there is generally a valid reason for that.

And no, 3-betting with AK is not a bluff. We 3-bet for value as AK is a very powerful hand.

How did the 3b pot where you had T9s play out? Were you the 3bettor or caller? Do you think that could factor into villain's decision (and you mention you've been involved in other 3b pots) or is he just playing his hand?

I 3bet with T9s in the SB after a loose aggressive raised and 4 ppl called. UTG, who limped, was the only caller. He called me flop/turn and I check called river more so I could induce a bluff since I didn't think he'd play AQ that way (ended up having jacks). Couple others included just 3betting IP with AK and AQ pre and taking it down. Not really sure if villain in OP had this in mind when he raised me as he seemed like a typical old asian gambooler.

Oh nice! I'm pretty regular there playing mostly 1/2. 2/5 there is still pretty soft imo.
Anyways for results:
Spoiler:
I folded and he claimed to have a pair. Still hard to assume if he raised large because of how deep we were and wanted to GII or protect his hand

Usually the speech how much do you have in your stack from asian villians right before the raise indicates hes relatively weak...and im sure he sees your 4bet range as AA only.

The lag in me says ship it...ya i like it (Going on the fact you said hes playing lag)...seems your percieved to be pretty tight and almost hero folded.

Side note...i think flatting is out of the question

Usually I'm assuming a 4! Is what it reps unless I have evidence villain will 4! Light. We have no evidence of that. We have shown that we 3! A little wide but villains often aren't adjusting to that so assuming he is playing off our 3! Range is probably a level until we see more from this guy.

I fold as I think I'm not doing well vs a conventional unknown 4! Range.
