You're rarely getting that kind of success rate on a wet board that hits your opponents preflop call ranges pretty hard. It's fair to say your were very fortunate to win this pot with a cbet. I'd gladly take my $60 profit and make sure I never do something like this again.

Checking isn't giving up on the hand. It's realizing your position and disguising your hand. You can play a check-raise on the flop, or check-call and check-raise the turn, depending on the action. You're cbetting blind and checking gives you more information about how your opponents feel about the flop.

1) Keep the pot small
2) Realize you have showdown equity
3) If you think your opponents bets are weak or semi-bluffs, your check-raise shows immense strength and should win you the hand.
Agreed with this. You have KK on a crappy straight board against several players. There is a good chance you are way behind and you are drawing basically dead against a straight (32 combos if they're really loose) or a set. If anyone of them decides to slow play two pairs+, you get stacked.

Checking allows us to see what happens. Yes we give a free card but a lot of the cards that give villain a better hand, we can get away from (also villain likely would call flop bet). Any Q, 9, or 7 for ex can kill our hand. If it goes bet and raise, you fold. If it goes bet, call, call, you should probably fold. Etc.

Also if a blank comes on turn, your equity goes way up assuming you're still ahead.
