Backstory: Game is playing pretty tight except for the Villian. 2/5 at this casino you can buy in for 100% of the big stack on the table.
Hero: TAG, 31 years old, Hasn't played much at this casino maybe only 50 hours.
Villian : 37 year LAG business type, Raising 40% of hands. Raises almost every button. Straddle's every UTG.

Hand:
Hero: SB ($1900 stack)
Villian: Button ($1700 stack)

Preflop:
Folds around to Villian on button raise to $20, Hero in SB 3bets to $60 with AK, Villian Calls. Pot ($125)

Flop: A25
Hero: Checks, Villian: Checks

Turn: 2
Hero: Checks, Villian: Bets $120, Hero thinks for about 15 seconds and calls $120. Pot ($365)

River: A
Hero: Insta Checks, Villian: Bets $360, Hero tanks for a Minute a Raises to $800.

I'm going to stop the hand here. I was trying to set up my hand to look a lot like pocket kings. I may have been trying to play it to fancy. Any thoughts and advise on the hand? The line I took? and my sizing on the river? Thanks

I'd raise a lot more on the river as his calling range should be pretty inelastic.

I'd lead the turn, we have to try to get some value here.

Flop can be ok if he tries to steal a lot.

Most likely going to be a chop, I'm guessing.

IDK. I'd want to know more about Villain's post flop play to take this line.

I think you should have lead the flop. But x/c isn't bad either.

If I thought he'd b/f the turn, then the x/c is the right line. But the more standard x/r on the turn is probably going to get more $ in the pot.

I probably just lead the river since we're chopping with lots of Ax now. I probably wouldn't want to risk him checking behind on the river. Hero has an A or "nothing" now, so I think a big bet on the river may even get raised by worse.

All of this is speculative since we don't have much of a read on villain.

This.

Definitely could just x/shove river, if you're going to take a x/r line.

Some more back story on Villian, From what I have scene, Villian will almost always bet against a check to him in a heads up situation. Also, from the short history I have on him he bets close to pot on his bets to apply pressure. However, Villian is not a blind LAG. He's a thinking player.

In this case I was surprised when he checked the flop. My original thought was to check raise them on this street to get value then bet every street there on. In this case when he checks back the flop, it surprised me because that's not his normal line.

When I checked the turn. I was pretty confident that he would bet since I've showed so weak. He bet about pot. My thinking if I raised here it would have given away the strength of my hand right away. So I called.

The river, I think I made my mistake. I think I should have bet out. I think it would have looked a lot more bluffy if I lead for $280-300. Give him a chance to do the raise.

Result
I check raise to $800, Villian pisses and moans for about 3 minutes and calls showing a 2 and mucks.

Thanks for all the feed back.

Villain calls a 3 bet with a 2X? must be bored.

Good job OP for taking it down.

Never slow play.

pre seems fine.
lead on the flop, esp since you are OOP (you want value & you don't want to give villian free turn)
lead on the turn (same reasons as above)

The Ace on the river saved you so thats why leading is important when you flop TP.

hand is played terrible versus a maniac, you need to give him a chance to bluff you sooner when you have such a stronger hand. Cbet the flop, barrel the turn, ch/call or ch/mr the river.

also your PFR sizing is bad, 3bet to like 100 to 120 here.
