Homegame I've been playing for past 4 months.
Stakes 2/5 average buyin usually 500-700, 10-8 players normally we usually quit when we end less than 5 ppl.
Quite passive, lot of check calling, chasing flushes and multiway pots very common.
Finland has just lost hockey game to Sweden, I'm pissed off, bit drunk and quite aggressive.
UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, MP limps
Me from MP+1 raise to 50 with AJo
Everyone else folds except MP who decides to 3B 130...
My stack size is bit over 1000, his stack size is bit under 800
My Reads:
I've played with MP several times, he is young lawyer (early 30's), fairly tight and sensible. Doesn't play in internet, has played poker for less than 1 year.
Makes a mistake of getting too attached to top pair type of hands and makes cbet too regularly to flops which don't hit his range. I've been exploiting this by re-raising him on the flop often and he has folded often.
Our last clash happened when I opened from button with QQ, he 3B from SB, I shoved all in my short stack of 50BB and he called with KK. I sucked out so I think he is also bit annoyed on the history.
He seems to dislike my aggressive style and usually likes to sit on my left side so he can easier play against me...
We have just had a table talk about who is the tightest player on table and he self-claimed himself to be tightest player.
My first instinct tells me he ain't so strong here, he limped after two really loose limpers and then decided to 3B against my raise. To me it screams he is looking for a payback.
I eliminate big pairs like AA-JJ from his range and think he is more likely to have a 77-TT or AXs/AQ+
I look at his remaining stack which is fairly deep so I figure he will fold a lot of hands and re-raise to 300.
He tanks, looks nervous thinks for about 2-3 minutes and collects himself and raises all-in.
After this I get a count, he has raised 470 on top.
So pot is 617 and it takes me 470 to call.
I don't think I have ~40% equity on this hand, it's more likely he has AK, AQ or decent pair like TT/JJ so I'm thinking my change is slim and I fold.
I also don't want others to see how light I 4Bet
After I fold, he quickly folds his hand under the muck deck without showing to anyone and says it was a bit of a gamble from him.
Now the question:
What do you think of the range of villain. Limping after 2 loose passive limpers and then 3-betting against the "captain" of the table?
Should I have called or is my fold sound? I sort of hate 4B 300 and then folding but then again I believe my decision was correct.
