2/5 10 handed

Live button straddle to $10 was on

Sb made it $30, 5 callers including the button

Flop 789 with two clubs

Checks to the CO who bets 150, button folds, sb and utg call, and this is where the interesting decision comes in for me. Action is up to utg+1 who has everyone covered with ~$525 more when action gets to him. It's $150 to call and he has A4 of clubs

How would you play it?

I think we can safely put the guy who bet $150 on 2pair, a flopped straight, possibly an overpair (discounting for kk or aa), a set, and maybe a combo draw. He's not stabbing here with air. Seems like the type to just c/c with a combo draw to try and get a free card but would definitely fast play a straight or set.

The callers are wild cards but they probably have something like top pair or a weak combo draw. Doubt they have a set here.

I think the right play is to shove. I am not sure though. I'd estimate little to no fold equity which may swing it to a call.

Pot is at 630 and it costs 150 to call on the flop

Call flop. UTG+1 is 4:1 to bink turn and is getting immediate odds, so this is either a call or a shove. Shoving never, ever, ever takes down the pot here. All it does is get one or two of the Vs to fold which is a bad thing. Just a super standard call. Depending on exact stack sizes we probably get odds to call river too unless the board pairs.

UTG+1 shouldn't be in the hand with that hand. Having gotten to the flop call is best. Can't fold since UTG+1 is getting direct odds to peel one card and has a nut draw.

Shoving is bad because UTG+1 rarely has great straight equity and needs some FE to compensate. It's really hard to judge what he is facing with 3 opponents in the hand but there are only a few combos where his equity looks good and a lot where it's terrible. The lack of any straight potentional really hurts, even just A5c looks better and AJc looks much better.

AJ you could just raise/GII but with A4 I just call and not feel great about it. Whenever I am getting “direct odds” but still have to put in 30-50 BB’s it’s always a marginal feeling.

You’re never going to make much unless you cooler someone and if you run bad for awhile in those spots and just keep missing it’s a kick in the dick.

Am I doing the math wrong or are the immediate odds not enough to justify a call?

47 unseen cards, 9 clubs left, one pairs the board

Is 4:1 enough?

Pot is offering us a little better than 4:1 and our odds are a little worse than 4:1. We often gii when we hit.
