2/5 Good call or bad? 2/5 Good call or bad?

2/5 game 8 handed. Folded to btn makes it 20 in the dark. SB folds and I make it 65 after looking at one card(10h). Btn peaks at his cards then shoves 230 total. I plan on folding until I look at my other card the 10c. Should be an instant call but I know nothing about him except he was willing to btn raise dark. I range him from qj to a9 or anypair as he knew I only looked at one card. What should I do? I called and he shows kk. Board comes A10J 2 10. So I make quads but did I make a good call?

I'm calling this shove pf all day long against the usual crowd. If he likes to gamboooooooool, I'm calling it twice. It's like being afraid of running KK into AA.

Look at your cards next time. Otherwise when he shoves just call without looking at the other one... I mean you made it this far right?

That's all that needs to be said. A lot of the time when someone says the made a raise "in the dark" they already sneaked a look at their cards. Did you have your eyes on him the whole time before it got to him?

At best you're flipping, but expect you'll see rockets here a lot more frequently than random distribution.

That is the only question here, did he really look or not. More times than not, they looked. Since he did not look before raising, easy ship.

Bad call, unless you knew this guy was way spewy per past history.

You seem to put him on a range based on how he knew you only looked at 1 card, IMO this was a mistake. Would you put him on a different range if you had looked at both your cards and he knew that? For instance you included QJ in his range and I'm not sure why. If anything he may have put you on an Ace as your 1 card you saw and was afraid of seeing a flop. If he thought you saw an Ace as your lone card he would not go allin w/any Ax as if he had AK/AQ he would want to bleed you postflop if an A hit and any lower Ax he could be dominated by you in a call by you of his allin. By logic he then probably had a pair and I doubt he would reraise allin w/middle-low pair.

i disagree with just about all of this post.

of course your opponents shoving range opens up when he knows you have only looked at one card.

as for your entire "if he thought you looked at an ace" argument, i feel it is illogical. if he had AK/AQ/AJ he would want to get the money in because most of the time an A will not flop and he still wants to win all of your chips...

I think this is a must call after you already have $65 of an effective $230 in the middle. He can easily have 88/99/AQ/AK here, and throw in a small % of random trash due to the fact that he may have decided he was playing for it all this hand before he ever looked.

EZ call...

...reverse example

BTN is a weapon, has been up and down all night and announces that this is his last hand and asks me if I can put in a blind raise as I'm UTG (straddles aren't allowed at Fallsview.) I've got a stack of 'his' chips in front of me so I oblige.

$2/$5 No Limit Hold'em - Fallsview - 10 Players

75bb eff.

Hero is UTG w/KK
Hero 'blind' raises to 4bb, 6 folds, Villain raises to 16bb, 2 folds, Hero (pauses, then) raises to 75bb+ and is all in, Villain (snap) calls 59bb w/99 (some people just want to gamble lol)

EDIT: Not sure why I even made this post (just felt like it I guess.) Unfortunately it's not that helpful and should be in the 'OMGWTFBBQ' thread.

This is what I would be thinking if I had TT.

why do you only look at one card? seems kind of pointless...

This guy is giving you so much ev by raising blind, i dont know why you give him so much back by effectively reraising blind. The main problem with this play is if you have a hand like any other suited paint / ace / 9 then you lose all value by rr whereas flatting is optimal. As it is, you should definately be getting 1010 in pf
