2/5 getting xr here, easy fold? 2/5 getting xr here, easy fold?

V UTG: Old man - very rich and loves to play 5-5 big o/omaha, first time i've played 2/5 with him. I have no idea what his skill level is like.

H MP: he doesn't know me...

we both have 1k, so 200bb deep

BTN straddles, sb folds, bb calls, UTG opens $50, I look at QQ and raise to $150, folds around and he flats.

862dd.

He checks, I bet $200, he raises to $400...

you need to call the flop, you beat too many hands to fold, does he seem like the kind of dude to raise to see wheres hes at? because this is what this seems like to me.

do you have the Qd

Against an old rich guy who likes playing Omaha, I'm happily shoving here.

What position is he here? Do we have any other reads on the way he plays draws or how wide he is from the position he flatted? Any physical or timing tells?

Anyone answering without this info needs to step beyond level 1

Not good for our equity to be blocking the Qd imo, a minimum of one less premium diamond draw in his range bc of this.

The assumption is that we haven't played with villain before. Can't buy hand histories in live poker.

Any one ever flatting QQ instead of raising to $150?

Are you assuming he plays his draws strong or you know for a fact?

If he plays his draws strong or some sort of 8x or 99-JJ this looks like a mandatory call / shove.

Seems like a tough spot being so deep.

Fair enough.

Absent reads we've got 650 on the flop jam into 910 so we need (650/1560=)41.6% equity when called to break even.

Let's give him credit for the two top sets (to be conservative) in his range, all JJ and TT and then maybe half weight on AA, KK and 99 since I don't totally buy that he doesn't 4 bet the first two frequently or min raise the latter, and then a combo of AKdd. If that's close (+/-3% because I do think he's capable of a spew sometimes) to what we need up top then go ahead, feels like it should be. I have no stove here.

A flat seems kinda rough here. When we call there's $1100 in the pot w 650 back, it feels like we can't really fold if a diamond comes (remember we have the Qd) because we get almost 3:1 however if a bad card comes for 8x or JJ-99 he is more capable of dumping it. Against a more aggressive player or a later position opener we might flat to keep his air in, I just don't see a lot of that here.

I don't love flatting because I feel like we're going to make a lot of mistakes on diamond and K+ turns, but I think 3!ing is an overplay of our hand.

Sometimes you just have to flat and play poker.
