2/5 flopped set and facing all in 2/5 flopped set and facing all in

Playing at this table for about 2 hours. Villain is in his mid thirties, has chipped up to 1200 from the max starting stack of 500. He has been solid, raising for value and not playing too loose or overly tight. One early limper and villain makes it 25 in the cut off. I have 550 in front of me and call with 5 5. Early limper folds.

We see a flop of 4 5 9

I check and he bets 25 I think for about 15 seconds and make it 75. I have been playing tighter than him and he knows that if he is a thinking player.

He starts to look at my stack and puts out a stack of green to put me all in. I thought for about 10 seconds and came to the conclusion that their is no way im folding this and call. Thoughts on the huge over bet as well as my call?

Never laying it down. Unfortunate side of the game if he had 99. Shrug it off and get back at it.

There are situations where you can make a tight laydown. This is not one of them.

Bad beat story incoming. If the story is along the lines of "I flop the near nuts and got it all in on the flop" you probably don't need a forum to tell you what to do.

This thread wreaks of an incoming BB story. Sorry if you got coolered.

The way you described the action, I'd be worried about top set if I was in your shoes. That said, I'm just never folding middle set which happens to be the 2nd nuts on a draw heavy board with ~100bb stack. Even being worried about top set, V would literally have to expose his hand and show me pocket 9s in order for me to fold. Just nothing you can do but cram it in.

Huge reraise is suspect but still snap call.

A combo draw is much more likely than an overset. Ac3c/Ac2c/6c7c/7c8c/6c8c are all possible. Also one combo of 54s, three of 44, maybe a naked FD/OESD sometimes and overpairs sometimes.

Snap call. Basically, if I have a set on any board on which top set is the nuts, I'm happy to gii and lose to a bigger set. If I'm folding a set then there has to be a straight or flush possible.

I saw someone doing this the other day and had pocket 8's. The set snap called and doubled up.

fair enough thanks guys, he had 99. I dont think I could fold a set on a more coordinated flop anyway.

Did you river quads?

Jkjk. Just salty that I got stacked twice in the past 4-5 months by rivered quads for my entire stack at 100NL/200NL online when I had a set and rivered a FH. It's pretty tilting.

But yeah, standard hand is standard. You're only 100bb deep. You're never even considering folding this unless you are 450bb+ deep

Coolers happen. With just 100bb there's not much you can do about it. Like I said before, V would literally have to expose his hand to me in order to fold middle set here.
