Stacks ~600 with

Straddle on.

-Hero raises to 30 utg with AQ
-MP calls (Solid young reg)
-BB calls

Flop(92): J105
-Hero decides to check the gutshot + backdoor flush draw
-MP bets 60 and only Hero calls

Turn(212): 8
-Hero checks
-Villain bets 120 and Hero calls again (thought about check shoving but his range is pretty strong here..sets, 2 pairs, Q9.. with KQ being the only bluff)

River(452): A
-Hero checks
-Villain goes all-in
-Hero?

Also, what do you guys think of my flop line..should I have led? If I did c bet the flop and barrel the turn.. I'd still have the same decision on the river. Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers

Well you said it. He is light on bluffs and heavy with value.

Easy fold. What you hoping for J-9 turned into bluff?

You beat spazz, and nothing else.

i guess fold, unless you think he is one of these guys that can really get out of line as far as raising multiple streets.

i think its not a horrible flop for you to just keep betting on because a lot of turn cards help us and he might need to fold a lot of run outs where he doesn't improve if we keep the pressure on.

but its also kind of scary because the flop hits his range pretty hard, so its going to take some work to get him off it.

honestly i don't run a lot of three street bluffs, so i guess i would of played it like you sometimes and been forced to fold.

don't know anything about the game conditions but with the straddle on to 10 why are we opening to 30? I think you can go bigger there and make it 50 to go?

anyway - on the flop I'm honestly c-betting 80 percent (against most opponents) and checking 20 percent (against a very aggressive player). lot of favorable turns for us to barrel on (any diamond, 9's etc) ...

again as played I am folding almost always - we beat nothing and he plays AJ, (probably A10ss) and potentially even KQ combos exactly like this. he also plays sets like this right? JJ & 1010 def in his range with a flat in his position to your open if he's young/solid/reg

What I don't understand is both the flop and turn calls, what was your plan or did you not have one? Were you hoping to hit your gut shot then double gutter?

given rainbow texture i cbet flop, i would def x/c if it there was FD and we had bdfd.

turn is fine but marginal, dont hate a fold. We have a double gutter + live overs some percentage of the time, and we have the best hand here a good amount.

ap river is nasty. in theory this should be a call (top of our range, block KQ) but i just think most regs arent 3 barreling enough so as an exploit in general I'm just folding here unless the reg has spewy tendencies

Super clear fold on river. If V took a fire/fire/shove bluff line, good for him. You’ll stack him shortly. I don’t really mind the flop float but I think the turn is an easy fold as well. You don’t have to win every pot, even with a premium starting hand, even when you flop decent equity. If V’s fighting this hard for the pot there’s probably a good reason.

I would have folded the turn. You're down to a gutshot and overcards that may not be good if they hit.

check folding flop can't be right. maybe its a flop we are just supposed to bet every time to keep initiative.

Thanks for the input guys.

Seems like leading the flop is better..as played, I think folding the turn would have been the better play.

P.S. I folded the river

Cheers

Double gutter, does that make a difference in your decision?
