$2/5, full ring Saturday afternoon

Hero: $500, 30yo white guy, reg in the room. This is my second orbit, so I don't really have an image to the rest of the table yet
V: covers, 50yo white guy. I remember playing with him a few months ago and he was pretty fishy. Just making plays that made zero sense

OTTH

4 limps, V limps in SB, hero checks in BB with J♣️8♣️

F ($30): Q♣️T♥️9♥️
V leads 25$ from SB, hero $100, all other fold and V calls.
I think this is pretty standard. Half the deck kills out action. I don't wanna play OOP against the 4 Vs, so charge them hard if they wanna come along.

T ($230): Q♣️T♥️9♥️T♣️
V checks and hero goes $160. Same thoughts here...charge all combo draws or big FDs. V calls

R ($550): Q♣️T♥️9♥️T♣️5♣️
V shoves, hero has about 265 behind (V covers)
I don't have specific notes on this V with his river tendancies...

We beat all straights now that we backed into a flush. Could be up against a few bricked out draws. Could be dead on turn...or at least drawing to one out for straight flush.

It's 265 to win about $800+ So we have to be good about 1:3 times...

Thoughts?

I think you played the hand well. Despite your efforts, you should fold the river. The third nut flush on a paired board is not a strong hand. This is never a bluff. It's hard to find hands that you beat. QT/T9/99 makes perfect sense. I suppose something like A9s/K9s is possible, but unlikely. You block worse combo draws like 87s/86s. Villain isn't going nuts with JT with a straight, flush, and boat on the board. Villain definitely has 15 combos that beat you. Can you find 5 that you beat? I doubt it. I think you lose well over 1/3 of the time.

The only thing that bugs me is that villain didnt 3bet the flop. If he had 2 pair on the flop why the hell would he just call hero's raise? I do however think he can show up with some 10's that he's just being a station with on the flop, turns what he thinks is the nuts and is shipping river for value in his mind because no way can you have J8. My first reaction was to fold because duh, when the fish bets you fold. But without overthinking it too heavily, $265 to win 800+ I think I call here.

I agree with above, was going to post easy fold, never beating anything etc etc BUT rule out all flopped sets, we have to assume he raises with 99+ pre. rule out any better flush, dont see a combo that gets to the river this way. so you're losing to QT&T9, which i think you will see a % of the time here, but not enough to fold getting 2/1.
From your description of the player however im sure you are going to tell us he has 55...

Super easy call on the river for that price. I think you played the hand perfectly .. good bet OTT.

It's a mistake to rule out QT/T9 because villain didn't 3! the flop. The hand was limped and there is a straight on the board. Hero makes a 4x bet with 4 players left to act. A lot of players would slowdown with two pair after hero's super strong move, fearing a straight or better 2pair or set. Hero is relying on a two month old read to justify a call.

For the 'easy call' crowd, what hands does villain have in his range than hero beats?
