Ship it, only few combos of sets and no real 2 pairs here. He probably has A9, 23 or an overpair a lot here.
I'm not folding this even 60bb deep.

No reason to shot take at 2-5 if you arent buying full.

I'm not going to comment on the hand but if you are buying in for 40 BB you should move down to $1/2. The fact that you even questioned GII with 2 pair here leads me to believe you are under rolled and playing with scared money. Scared money is dead money and observant players will smell the blood in the water and punish you.

Yeah this thread is kind of result oriented imo - gii is not a question as played, but since OP lost the hand, he comes back and wonder if there was a way that he could've gotten away from it. Even though there was a slim but real chance he was beat, the answer is no.

I don't think folding here is as bad as everyone says. What are you guys ranging a 3bet in a limped pot as...? I've never seen A9 do this, ever. Maybe some combo draws we're ahead of. Slight chance of a catastrophically played overpair?

I still gii this short because stack sizes might induce a spazz, but I'd hardly say there's a "slim chance" he was beat.

Combinatorically speaking there is a slim chance

Don't we sometimes have to ignore the fact that only X amount of combos are possible when the action tells us so?

Yes according to the combinations of hands possible we are only behind a few but the action is telling us we are behind. I just don't see too many stacking off with 9x here.

What are we doing in this spot when we are 100bbs+ ?

Poker is a game of incomplete information, so it helps to have solid facts in order to make a decision. Combination analysis is one of the few facts or truths you can always rely on. Just because somebody takes a line that says otherwise you can never say with 100% certainty what they have based on their line due to human tendencies and obviously bluffing. However we can say with great certainty what hands villian can have combinatorically. Thats why i try to always use that to my advantage

There are many factors that will sway my decision making process:

Combinations
Stack sizes
Line
Image
Etc

In this spot with us being so short, and facing such a narrow value range (combinatorically) im very happy shoveling it in.
If we were 100bb+ deeper then im just going to call and re-evaluate. But im never just straight up folding in this spot unless it were to go bet raise reraise or something crazy like that. Luckily if we have a good preflop game then we shouldnt face these spots very often
