A9o at a very loose and crazy table, half the table are raising 15 dollars with kxo and just other random hands 74o etc, just to give an idea of the weird table

A9o on the button

4 players in mid to late call 2, I call 2

Sb folds, bb raises to 15

3 players call, I call
Flop comes j99 rainbow
Bb bets 75
Everyone folds
It's on me

Fold pf. How much does bb have left? I mean just call most likely.

Fold pre to the $15 if you can’t resist limping.

I’m not sure we can do anything other than call down. Easy turn and river bet if he checks

If the turn’s a K or Q and he bombs it it’ll raise red flags but calling at least one more time. I may let it go by the river if one of those cards roll off since we’re blocking AA and I doubt he has a single 9 in his range

Depends on the stack depth but mostly just call. This pot is bloated already so I doubt we will need to raise.

I'm new here (returning after a long break at least), but how is this not a jam, especially given the stack sizes?

The only hands I'm worried about are J9 or JJ (6 combos). There are many more Jx or 9x hands that you are way ahead of and if he's betting the draw (or a whiff as a big C-bet), you're ahead and want the stacks in now. There are very few turn cards that significantly decrease your equity, but lots that decrease his.

If the read on the table is accurate, the BB could be raising here with a wide open range and even though he likely has some kind of a hand to bet that large on the flop, many I play against would do it with any pair or broadway draw here along with the hands that hit some piece. Not to mention this large of a bet doesn't look like it wants a call. Of those that call, you're ahead of at least 96% (QQ+(18), J8+(60), 98+(5), 87-AK (90)= 173 vs 6). If you happen to run into it this time, that's more money on the table when you rebuy.

We're not recommending calling because we're scared of hands that beat us...

Sure, I understand that point of not encouraging the fold.

I think my point is the BB would most likely make the call after a shove for another $95 (into a $320 pot). The only hands that may see the light and fold would be Jx and maybe overpair. I think this is the best spot to get in stacks as the turn would change the math significantly. Get both streets of value now.

Hero calling this big of a bet with less than half pot behind shows more strength than the reraise.
