Hi all,

2/5. V is pretty solid reg, a bit on the overfolding side postflop though (like will toss AA as pfr to two donks multiway on a pretty dry flop since V must have a set). V doesn't necessarily only open nutted hands pre - have seen him as wide as QJo. Hero $280, V covers. Hero's image to V: super tight.

Anyway, V opens to $20 UTG+1, hero makes it $65 with AQo, V calls, HU. V's range: 99-JJ (maybe QQ). I think V gets it in with AK and KK+ against me pre. Hero's range: AA, KK, AK.

Flop ($130): T-5-3r. V checks, hero bets $50, V thinks a little and calls.

Turn ($230): K completing rainbow. Hero jams $160.

Thanks,
DT

Being so short vs. this guy I don't know how else you can play it except to fold pre.

What's your position pre? Can you just flat call & still get it heads-up?

I prob check flop w/ this stack size, then barrel turn & river. Your line is good too. Not sure which is better.

Sorry, my position was in the title but not the post: next to act, UTG+2. I'd rather go HU IP with most of my continuing range. Maybe I can fold out some small PP and other broadways/SCs that might come long behind me otherwise. I'm almost never flatting if I am entering a pot. Call = weak, capped range. 3! = range advantage, uncapped. Why would I want the former when I can have the latter?

Why do you only have $275? Either quit or top off.

DumbosTrunk plays short. A lot of players choose to play short. Ignore his posts if you don't want to comment on short-stack play.

Me and GG play short/mid too. You dont have to always be at 100bb.

edited Raising UTG1 pre is still a dangerous proposition with AQo and being at 50ish BB is putting you in dangerous commitment territory with a 3bet. You could have just called or even folded but once you put in 25% of your stack it puts us in an awkward spot. I dont like the cbet here vs a V who obviously has a strong range when we miss. Once the K hits the turn I would fire turn+river though.

I would have probably flatted and gotten away from it on the flop if I missed. We would have a disguised hand, get to see what UTG1 does on the flop first and can stack some fish behind us who are calling with their Q9/AT junk.

Where did he open QJo from? I'm guessing NOT UTG. This sounds like the sort of player who limps 99-JJ, AK UTG, which makes me hate your 3bet. As played, seems ok postflop

^^ I agree, his UTG+1 range needs to be taken into consideration.

I saw you jammed for only 160 that you had left so yes fold pre, even if you come back to say "He folded".
