1k effective. 8 handed

Hero is in BB w/ AhAc

CO(1k) open limps. He is middle age reg very loose pre, limp calls a ton, also will turn top pairs into bluffs unnecessarily, and other funky stuff, maybe a very slight winning player to small winner. Played with him a ton pre covid, basically very lose passive pre and spazzes trying to make weird bluffs often post. Gets to showdown with trash hands a lot. Thinks I am tighter than I am because he doesn't see me over call a lot preflop.

SB (covers) ; random tight passive especially with big pairs pre. Wants to see cards before putting big money in. Limps $5

Hero makes it $35, both call.

Flop($105): Jh5h8c

SB : X , Hero 45, CO call , SB fold

Turn ($195) 6s . Hero X with intention of X/calling don't love that turn against specific player range. CO x

River : 6c . Hero $95. CO raise to $300.

This is just a sigh call spot, no?

Yeah given that you’ve seen him with a history of making weird bluffs in this kind of way, I’m rolling my eyes, calling, and seeing his 76o

Yeah just have to call getting 3:1. We're good way more often than that if he's the type to bluff scare cards all the time

I would x-r the flop especially with Ah because it's less annoying if the flop checks through.

I see why you checked the turn, but I'd probably continue.

AP, I'm going at least $150 otr. I can't ever fold versus described villain.

I think x/r flop with one pair hands against most villains isn't great at these stakes because they won't continue nearly enough without tons of equity. Sure exploitable but not necessarily against most Vs

That has not been my experience at all, and if it's yours then just x-r buff like there's no tomorrow

IMO title alone is enough reason to fold unless there’s a very very compelling reason not to

This is my opinion as well.

I dont know who said it recently, heard it in a poker podcast or somewhere else- but if you folded every single time you didnt have the nutz or second nutz when getting raised on the river in a live LLSNL game you would save alot of money.

That being said, due to description of villain being quite bluffhappy post i dont blame OP for calling in this particular instance.

That is basic Ed Miller to fold an over pair or TPTK on turn or river to a raise or check raise: basically the times you are good doesn't compensate for the times you aren't, in lieu of a strong read. Miller would have also bet the turn. (I don't mind the turn check).

In this case you have the read but the board is coordinated. With a Jh5h8c flop, any SC from 10-9 to 6-5 picked up a front end draw or pair/gut shot so they will continue on the flop. 97s got there on the turn. Now 76s and 65s have trips.

Is your read strong enough to overcome the patterns that most LSNL play?
