V - Competent reg, aggressive, can be LAG or TAG, seems tight tonight

H - Reg, should be viewed as TAG. No much history with V

Eff 500

V opens UTG 20, we 3b to 60 with AA from SB, V calls, HU

Flop ($120) QT6
We bet 75, v raises to 170 with 290 behind.

???

Kind of close, but I think SPR just right enough for the ship it. I tink you can 3bet a little more making it easier, esp as you say he's competent so prob has very good hand from utg.

Would decision differ if we had the A?

I mean, your basically saying your readless.
His raise looks more like a semi bluff to me, almost a min raise with a heavy drawing board .
I'm shoving.

I could only fold here if I had specific reads to his early position raise/calling ranges.

I'm finding a fold.

Lets construct a range based on Vs description.

Preflop open: 22-AA, AQ+, JTs+
3bet call range: 55-QQ, AK, AKs
Flop raise: 66, TT, QQ, (AKs I'm discounting)

I can't see V raising like this with a big draw which is why I discount AKs. This looks, smells, and feels like a set.

I'd fold with or without the ace of clubs. You beat KK but I'd discount that alot since he didn't 4bet pre and that's a bad flop for KK. You block AQ but he probably wouldn't raise AQ on that flop anyways. 66, TT, QQ make sense. AKcc you flop against and that's one combo

Don't really like your betsizing on the flop. It's a 3b pot w 100 BB stacks where we can usually bet 2 streets and get AI w/o overbetting if we choose. On a wet board like this we usually want to GII as quickly as possible; on a drier board, smaller bets over 3 streets might be preferable. If we pot the flop it sets up a shove of 320 into 360 on the turn.

Once villain makes that small raise on the flop we need to re-evaluate whether we're happy getting AI. Villain's raise size skews his range away from one pair hands or draws that leave him with difficult decisions facing a flop shove or flop call/turn shove from you. Maybe he could choose that sizing w/ AQ to induce a shove from you w AK or something, but that seems too far-fetched to really consider as much of a possibility w/o a specific read. That leaves villain's range as primarily sets or air. If he can have air here with any frequency you have to grit your teeth and call down. But most players won't; there's not all that much he's likely to open UTG and call a 3bet with that even is air on this board (JJ, 99-77 maybe). Thus, seems like a crying fold.

Fold, we're usually behind here to a tight reg.
