hero is new to table. young asian kid. in the straddle with ~$1k

villain UTG ~$1.5k. he players pretty loose and is a little bit on the gambly side from what i remember. i am new to the table so dont have strong reads on how he is playing today, but he is your typical losing llsnl player that plays a too loose. not a maniac/whale but def bad

villain limps. BB calls.

hero TcTd raises to $60
villain calls
BB folds

flop (~$140) 872r
hero bets $80
villain calls

turn (~$300) Q (brings bdfd)
hero check
villain bets $125
hero calls

river (~$550) Q (no flush comes)
hero check
villain bets $400

thoughts on hand? do people check turn or bet turn here? river decision?

TT seems bad because particularly because we block T9s which is a bluffing candidate and a potential hand someone would limp/call 6x opens with.

Call seems fine. Pretty polarizing bet size and he only has a few set combos in his range.

All fine. River mostly call but folding on occasion.

Im confused as to who has position here. Villain limped and hero is in the straddle. How is hero check/calling? Is Hero straddling UTG and villain is 2 seats to the left of the BB (UTG+1)?

I'm calling, I think most Vs raise button with 88/77 most of the time. He's repping air, 22 and a Q.

I’m folding because people don’t bluff often enough with big bets on the river

I bet the turn.

AP, I call the river

I assume Hero is straddling UTG.

I definitely call river and like the way the hand was played.

I straddled UTG and villain is UTG+1. I typically just call whoever is first to act preflop UTG. I thought that was normal, sorry

i agree that villain is not repping much, but that seems to be the case a lot in LLSNL.

but do villains really bluff here all that often? especially betting $400 into $550 on the river on a really bad river card for them?

what hands does villain play like this that we beat?

TT blocks 9Ts which is a bluffing candidate.

+1 though I think checking turn is fine too and don't have a huge opinion one way or another. I probably do a mix. not folding AP

the way you posted it is fine/easy to understand

I probably bet the turn, too, if I think about it. Knowing the river paired the Q makes the check on the turn easy to get behind and a call on the river even easier.

i felt betting turn with TT has less value because I block 9Ts. I guess he still probably plays hands like A8s, J8s, 98 like this. i definitely considered betting turn.

if we bet turn and river runs out the same as it did here. do we x/c? x/f? blocker bet?

I would have bet turn and x/c river.

I would play this hand a variety of ways so it is hard to say. the line I took here would have a lot to do with my image and villain tendencies.

I can see merit for all of b/b/b; b/x/b; b/b/x - I don't think I am folding at any point in the hand regardless of the line I take though without facing a large raise.

vs your villain description I like checking at least one street & not folding.
