Villain is a semi-competent nit reg, only shows down the goods it seems. Been here a few hours and only seen nutted showdowns

down to 5 handed, hero is UTG (covers table) with pocket kings

raises to 35, folds to the big blind who calls, villain (1350) on straddle raises to 90, hero raises to 250, BB folds, villain calls

J73

checks to hero, bets 350, villain shoves

hero looks at his cards again and sees the King of diamonds in his hand and...

750 to call

I mean, villain is not 3bet/calling a 4bet with AK or KQ usually... Like maybe AK, but that is only one combo (that we block). Heroes image is super important here, but with an overpair, 130bb deep, in a 4bet pot I don't see how we fold. There is 1950 in the pot and 750 to call so we need 38% equity, vs JJ+ we have 44% so yeah lets call.

I checked the numbers - KKd vs black KK, vs a range of JJ+/AdKd,KdQd, and KKd has 44% vs 43% for black KK, so yes it is better as backdoor than as a blocker

Yeah having the Kd against a nit-reg is just too many things stacked against you here as there aren't many bluff combos left. What is your image? How has V been responding to 4 bets? Seems like V would probably continue with JJ+, AQs+.

Flop bet seems a little large in a 4bet pot.

You beat AdQd, and QQ (7 combos) and you lose to AA, JJ (9 combos). I kind of doubt V is x/shoving QQ on this board. Feels bad to fold with an SPR this low but I probably find one against this V.

villain is always cautious of me bluffing large, plays conservative against me, thinks I'm always bluffing when I win without showdown OTR, that being said

i hate my bet on the flop too but intention was to make possible a bet/fold as he had told me before the hand what he had in his stack and was off by 100, it was supposed to be 850 to call

the K of diamonds removes villains semi bluff combos, but gives me around 3% of raw equity, depending on how we value villains AdAx

I honestly don't think blockers and back-doors figure in this decision.

Firstly you probably have to continue KK always here as played (depending on precisely what your 4bet range is).

Secondly you've got odds to continue vs JJ+ anyway.

If you think this villain is the kind of player against whom KK is going to be needing to fold a bunch in 4bet pots then I think you're making a mistake 4-betting in the first place.

mmmm, with the SB still in the hand and 5 handed with a bluffy image i'm going to 4bet this a lot, prolly all AQ and AK and even some random suited aces, it's going to be highly polarized but i don't want SB peeling here and I want to build the pot vs his 3bet range since i have the second nuts, no way is 4betting a mistake

Tough spot, but with your image, prolly call it off...

If you're 4-betting AQ+ and got a bluffy image you absolutely have to put it in on the flop with KK.

What's range are you giving the nitty straddle when he 3bets preflop?

Once you bet so big on the flop you gotta go with it. This is standard way nits play AA though.

You didn’t count hero’s call as part of the final pot. We need
750/(1350*2+35) = 27.4% equity.
