Main villain is a fishy hispanic calling station who has not shown any aggression and is running pure and built his stack up to 4k from an initial buyin of 500.

Hero is effective stack w/ 2500. In game for 3k. Running like dogpoo but decent image. Havent shown any bluffs but have lost several very strong hands at showdown to main villain and a couple other fishy recs at the table.

OTTH

Hero is UTG and opens 910hh to 20. 4 callers including main villain who 3bets to 60 on the button.

Alarm bells start going off as villain has not 3bet a single hand in the 3 hours we have been playing. However, given the bet sizing error made by villain, hero thinks that perhaps villain is either VERY strong or somewhat weak.

Folds to hero, who calls. Remaing 3 players call and we go 5 ways to flop.

Flop (300) 9h6s5d

Checks through.

Turn 7c

Hero leads for 125.

Folds to main villain who calls.

River (550) Jh

Hero checks, villain bets 250.

Hero?

Is this a mandatory call? Villain is a calling station and checked back trip Aces w/ a weak kicker when hero check called 2 streets and rivered a full house in a previous hand.

You have 2 9 of hearts in the hand.

More likely a trivial fold. Calling preflop here is trying for something better then one pair but after the flop checks around I don't mind the turn bet. When villain calls that there isn't much to do on river but check/fold vs a passive calling station. If you think the villain has the capacity to bluff he is laying some big odds but I don't think you will be good often enough. If the board allowed for a flush draw on the flop and you think villain can play AK/AQ suited this way then calling looks better but I would still favor fold.

What is point of turn bet? Seems rather clicky and a bad spot to be protective/defensive and way too light for value.

Turn bet is for value and for protection against two overs. Ideal case would be to just take it down. If called by anybody else aside from from main villain looking to check/fold river.

I'm likely checking, but 5way I don't mind this bet too much tbh.

As played, I'd call river pretty routinely against a fishy player.

Result:

Ofcourse I sigh call and villain shows AJo. I was quite shocked he elected to 3! W this hand. Perhaps it was a lame attempt at stealing and his sizing was way off. Annoying that he binked river of course but he was running so well. Didnt 3bet again for the rest of his session.
