2/3 NL QQ multiway

I was playing at Gardens Casino in CA and I haven't played poker in a long time. I don't know villain, effective stacks are $200.

I pick up QQ in MP. UTG limps, I raise to $15, CO calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls. Pot is $75 and flop comes 447 two diamonds and a heart. Checks to me and I bet $45 and CO calls and everyone else folds. I have $200 behind and CO has $140 left. Pot is $165 on turn and 6 club comes out. What should I do here? Villain has slightly less than a PSB on the turn and since it went multiway so he could have a wide range of draws and trips. If I bet half pot and get jammed, I would think I have to call since it is about $60 more? Should I be betting smaller on the flop? I want to get value for my hand and charge draws but multiway, I could be against monsters.

I have trouble with large pockets pairs in multiway pots in live games.

Re: 2/3 NL QQ multiway

I raise to ~$20 preflop, where I play I will get calls but probably not by everyone with everything, but sizing may be location dependant. Flop is just about as good as it can get without having a set and we should plan to GII. I would make it $60 with this many players in the hand.

AP it's a trivial rip now. If we want to get stacks in, the only way I'm slowing down on this board is in a 3bet pot where ranges don't connect and I have AA so basically no river concerns me.

Yeah I prefer raising large usually but it varies sometimes if I'm raising wider I sometimes make my raises a bit smaller

Re: 2/3 NL QQ multiway

Unless opponents are real droolers who will stack off with lol holdings in these situations when it's obvious what our hand is (our hand might as well be face up on the table given the way we've played it, right?) then these preflop results really suck, imo (multiway, OOP, small SPR that will be almost impossible not to stack off too, and yet offering 4 opponents fairly okish IO of 16+ IO to stack us).

There's two solutions, imo.

One, get really really really good in these spots. I think that's actually a fairly difficult task, so good luck if you go down that road.

Or two, do something different preflop. If you overlimped in, you create a fairly easy situation no matter what happens. If someone raises and you see a bunch of callers, you have a trivially profitable limp/reraise situation (where thanks to the huge amount of dead money in the pot already you don't even care if you're limp/reraise gets called or not). And if limps thru, whatever. You play an SPR 10+ pot where you'd have to be really really really bad to play for stacks on bad boards; lean to folds on bad boards with bad action (and even if you fold the winning hand once and a while it isn't a big mistake since the pot is small), attempt to build a big pot if you flop your set, and otherwise do your best to cautiously play a small pot with a disguised hand.

Just shove now to get him off his various draws or have him call with one of them for the wrong price. If he has a 4 or 77, so be it.
