2/3 NLH, 330 effective

V is a 30-40ish y.o. Asian guy, sat down 30-45min ago, pretty inactive so far

Preflop: V opens UTG to 15. Hero flats A

UTG+2. SB and BB call.

Flop (~$55): A

Blinds check, V bets 35, Hero calls, blinds fold.

Turn (~$125): 8

V bets 60, Hero calls.

River (~$245): 7

V checks. Hero?

3 bet/fold pre, and I'm just folding vs an inactive player who is opening UTG.

Betting this river for value is way too thin. He's pretty weighted towards AK/AQ/AJ/99. We're not getting value from AJ or AT if that's even in his range, we probably get a chop to fold, and probably get AK to fold, but I'm not looking to turn this hand into a bluff. This comes back to flatting pre.

Agree w/ 3bet or fold pre. Calling is meh. However, once we flat pre, the rest if fine and the river is a check unless we have some weird read that V is mubsy or scared money. He's rarely folding better or calling with worse.

As played check it back. The target for value is pretty thin and he might never even have those hands. Based on his weak bet sizings he might, but a lot of players like this would undervalue AK on this board type as well and play it weak in the manner villain has.

I don’t know if 30-45 mins of pretty inactive play is enough to make me fold AQo here. I’m probably 3-betting a bunch in this spot with the intention of folding to a 4-bet.
