Villain is a reg, semi-tight player, never plays garbage but pretty much plays any pretty hand from any position. I've seen him make some sneaky plays (flatting monster hands, slow play, etc.) in the past so definitely keeping an eye out. Not sure if that makes sense but thats the image I have of him. His stack is ~900, I have him covered.

OTTH

I'm in UTG+1, I look down at 99, I make it 25. MP calls, LP calls, V in the SB calls.

Flop ($100): AA9

V leads 70. I call in the hopes of getting a player behind me to call but both MP and LP fold.

Turn ($240): 2

V leads 100. I raise to 225. V calls.

River ($490): 6

V leads 245. I jam all in. V tank, folds.

Hindsight, I should have probably raised more on the turn. Would you change anything else?

Call turn and keep letting him click buttons.

Hand seems good. It was only a $450 raise or so on the river. Maybe turn could have been a touch bigger.
If you had him well covered then maybe just raising instead of all in would scare him less. But that's pretty nit picky.

I definitely feel like this is wrong. AP, Hero got an additional $125 out of V OTT and likely got him to bet ~$75 more OTR as a result of the bloated pot. I don’t think floating turn, on balance, will net $200 extra in EV.

I will add this; it’s clear by the end of action on the turn that V has AJ+. I think a minraise OTR is probably a better line to extract value from most LLSNL opponents, but it’s a classic case where not only is it a player-by-player basis, but if you minraised, you’d be posing to us the exact same hand, except it would be “Did I Bet Too Little?”

Overall, well played by Hero IMO.

I like it. Agree that a bit higher on turn is good. You got as much as you were going to. Nice flop.

You played this totally fine. You could maybe consider clicking it up to 150 on the flop though.

You forgot J high and 10 high blasts

Lmao at scoffing at unbalance and constantly preaching balance, then defending a turn raise here where you never have anything but the near stone cold nuts. Great logic.

Not that a turn min-raise here is bad OP, I think it’s more than fine. I imagine the EVs of call and raise aren’t drastically different since most players are bad and we can probably get away with being completely unbalanced in some spots. but if your tight reg were actually a good hand-reader he’d insta muck any non-boat or AQ hand here. That’s not an assumption i’m gonna make without extensive history, so in a vacuum i think min raising turn is fine

I can say it’s pretty likely you think it’s wrong because of the hand results and how it played out.

If this semi-tight reg tank folded an A face-up ott vs our raise, the answers in this thread would 100% be way different. Or if Hero stopped the action ott vs his lead, not everyone would be saying turn is a raise. It’s hindsight bias/confirmation bias

If our opponent was a rec/whale/fish, then turn is a snap raise however
