Is this 2/2 game beatable? Is this 2/2 game beatable?

Hi,

I prop at a casino where I have to play a 2/2 with $40-$100 buy in. Rake is $5/ hand so I figure game is unbeatable.

Would like some input on optimal strategy. Min buy and just jam premium hands?

Is the rake 10% up to $5 or just $5, so a $6 pot gets raked down to a $1? If that's the case I'm not sure if it's beatable. I'd play it for a while and see what happens.

I cut my teeth on $100 max buy-in games and they are definitely beatable with a 10% up to $5 rake. Buy in for the full $100 and adjust accordingly. Speculative hands like Axs, small pp's, and sc's go way down in value. Most fish will not adjust properly and will continue limp calling 22 even though they don't have proper odds. Just play way tighter in EP, loosen up on the button, and be ready to GII by the turn every hand. It usually doesn't take long for a few people at the table to double up and then it plays just like your typical game where half the table is 50bb and the other half is 100bb.

It is $5 flat drop so yes $6 pot they take $5 but it is no flop no drop.

That rake seems criminal. I'm guessing it's beatable as long as the games are decent, but probably at about half the winrate you would see with a more normal game structure. Tell the manager that with that rake he's going to bleed his customers dry. A great salesman once told me, "You can milk the cow, but don't rip its tits off."

I would probably post this in the brick and mortar forum too, you'll probably get some good feedback.

$18/hr I figure it's probably marginally worth it but it's the best way to build a bankroll that I can think of.

At 18/hr you can beat the game. Just need to play very tight. No suited connectors or speculative hands. Get used to folding a lot

Since your advocating a tight strategy because set mining or speculative hands aren't worth playing is it better to just short stack and fast play premiums?

I figure it makes post flop easier since if you buy in for $100 let's say you open to 12 get two callers if you make pot size flop bet or close to it you pretty much have to GII on the turn regardless right?

If everyone folds to you and you raise to 6 and all fold. Do you still lose 5?

My bad I think I answered wrong earlier no if I raise 6 no callers they don't take a rake.

I think the game you describe at OC11 is beatable. The players tend to be very loose and with usually one or two aggressive players at a table. You have to play very very very tight out of position and very tight in position if there are limpers. Always open raise, never limp. Have a hand as you can expect somebody to be all in on flop or by turn. Be prepared to rebuy repeatedly as there seem to be many suck-outs.
