Thanks for the replies on my last post, now here's another hand played this weekend which got stuck in my head.
About 4 hours into the session, the table is relaxed and fun, good atmosphere. Lots of limping and calling of standard raises preflop, but barely any 3bets/4bets. However, lots of action post flop. The first two hours or so had some big flops/setups and a whole bunch of all ins. The last one or two hours were calmer, but the players are loosened up. We have a running gag at the table that any 9 is the nuts preflop, as about 20% of the flops had two 9s in it, and about 40-50% had one.
Villain (~600) is an early 30s male who plays a very wide range of hands preflop, but plays solid afterwards. He lost a lot at the beginning of the session, but won a big hand with a herocall about an hour ago, after which he improved his play. In conversation he revealed that he played a lot online the last few weeks and is more of a tournament player, which is why he doesn't take this cash game too serious. He is also an advocate of calling with any 9 if the price is reasonable, as he picked up some big pots with flopping trips/full. Solid player overall, playing a little loose, also capable of bluffing now and then, betting thin and leveling. Probably a slightly winning player in LLSNL.
V2 (~250) is a 50ish male, kinda passive fishy. Opens wide and plays a lot of hands, also puts too much money in post flop. Rarely 3bets or shows real aggression though. Played a hand against villain earlier where V2 check/called a shove by V for 150 into a 100 pot on a 294r flop. V showed 9 10s, V2 showed K4s and rivered a king. He explained his call by stating that "these young students/internet kids are playing way too aggro". Didn't get out of line too much afterwards.
Hero (~450) is a young male student playing TAG, almost nitty for most parts. Won one nice pot with bottom set. Probably perceived as rather tight by V, but super aggro by V2 due to being a young student. However, Hero also tried semi-bluffing and leveling another reg off his hand once or twice without succes, which V definitely noticed. Played ABC for the rest of the session.
2/2 - 11-handed
2 limpers,
Hero (CO) opens for 12 with 10
10
,
V (BTN) calls,
V2 (SB) re-raises to 32, BB folds,
Hero calls, V calls
(After being 3bet, I mentally go into set-mining mode, as stack sizes are fairly deep and V2 is often gonna pay me off, probably getting some value from V as well)
Flop (102)
J
8
2
V2 checks, Hero checks, V checks
(Not sure if this should have been a bet... V2's 3-bet range is probably ahead of our 10s, and I'm not sure if he even would have C-bet a hit or an overpair, so we can't really narrow it down. V's range is a lot wider)
Turn (102)
Q
V2 checks, Hero checks, V checks
River (102)
9
V2 checks, Hero bets 36, V raises to 82, V2 folds, Hero???
I know this would usually just be a flat call, but given the table dynamics and V's profile, can we actually consider raising for value here? Our hand is pretty obvious if we 3bet, but K10 is the only hand that beats us and we're holding two 10s. Given the table dynamics and V's image, should we maybe make a small raise (to 140-180)? It gives V great odds with a two-pair-ish hand or a rivered set and allows him to level himself into a call. And if we do this and get 4bet/shoved, do we just snap fold?
Comments on the whole line are appreciated
Cheers
