Spade $100K Guarantee, Hard Rock Tulsa

Sorry for posting MTTc - Live advice on the Live Low-Stakes NL page, but I like the volume of advice here more.

Hard Rock's $100K, $125 buy-in. Flight 1B

About an hour into the flight, blinds are 50/100.

Villain: Fish reg, pretty loose passive, large man in 40s with overalls, seen him playing before. Has been talking about how tired and sick he feels, how he wishes he didn't buy into the second flight (played the first flight and had been playing all day, according to him).

Hero: Young male, mid 20s, probably have not too much of a developed image yet. Either tight aggressive or tight passive.

H: ~6k
V: ~7k

----

H:Q6

V:UTG+1
H:BB

Pre-Flop: 6 limps to BB, I consider raising in a semi-squeeze effort and to obtain a little more aggression in my image, but ultimately check.

Flop: Q65 ($650)

- Hero: Leads out with $400,
- V: calls,
- MP: calls, all others fold.

Turn: 9 ($1850)

- Hero: Bets $1200,
- V: raises to $2400,
- MP: folds,
- Hero: calls

River: 5 ($6650)

- Hero: Checks
- V: Shoves All-in (covers Hero)

- Hero: ???

Well you stated that Vill is loose passive fish. This kind of aggression is uncommon for a loose passive player. You are having to call about 4200 to win 15000, laying you odds of about 3.5 to 1.

Will can you beat 28% of the hands he would take this line with?

If he is truly loose PASSIVE i would say probably not. It depends on how you range him i guess.

Would he do this with AQ, KQ, KK, AA? doubtful if he is passive.

the only busted draw he can really be doing this with is 34. Would he play it UTG +1?

Is he capable of turning PP under the Q into bluffs?

Those are really the only hands you can beat.

65 and Q5 binked you on the turn. 78 got there. He only has one combo each of the possible flopped sets. But might have 99. Given the description of loose PASSIVE i just don't see what you can beat despite the odds you are being laid.

This was a re-entry though, if you were wrong you could always fire another bullet.

Any validity to discounting sets in his range because of blockers? Obviously didn't put QQ in his range, but discounted 66 and 55 because of the blockers (two 5s on board, six in my hand and on board)? Definitely though AQ, KQ, OJ and even Q10 in his range, didn't think a two pair was in his range except for maybe 65, maybe 78 was in his range

it feels like a fold. Feels like 78, 66, 55 or maybe 99. He could have AQ -QJ, but i dont think he minraises on the turn, but raises a little more than that. As mentioned a passive guy is not doing this with worse except KQ maybe.

didnt realize this is a rebuy. If you can buy back in its a call and then call for a rebuy.

Does the fact that it's a rebuy really change strategy that much? Shouldn't the idea to be to maximize the EV and play optimally? I just don't necessarily see how whether or not it's a re-buy would effect that

yes, but in tournaments, tournament life is a huge factor.
There is a million percent difference between having 1 chip with 10 million chips in play and having zero chips.

I think this is close enough where whether this is your tournament life or not can shift your decision one way or the other

Wrong forum as you know. MTT strategy is different that cash game strategy.

Locked.
