1/3 Trips line check

Hero $425 (HJ) has tightish image on this generally loose table
Villain (BB) (covers) is an older gentleman nothing too OOL - not a nit but not too loose either

Folded to me, I open to 15 w/ AJo, loose btn calls, sb and v in bb calls

Flop J87r (60)
x, x, H 40, only V calls

Turn J (140)
x, H 75, V calls

River 6o (290)
x, H 250 (stack of greens)

Sized turn smaller to allow a wider range to arrive on river
Otr i thought a normal sizing would fold something like TT,99 where maybe a bluffy sizing might get called lighter and ofc snapped if he slowplayed Jx

Pre and flop is fine. I like turn sizing. But based off your thought process on the river you might as well just jam. That seems more bluffy than almost potting it and leaving yourself a little behind.

Re: 1/3 Trips line check

For some reason I didn't grunch this, most likely cuz I'm really unsure of how we should be approaching postflop (actually took a day to think about this one).

I'm not in love with our preflop result (going so multiway) but I'm guessing we didn't expect that opening from the HJ.

I find postflop interesting because combo-wise we're a slight dog regarding hands that we're crushing / hands that crush us that will likely get in all the money by the river. If I've counted right, there's 32 combos of KJ/QJ/JT/J9 that will most likely stack off as losers, and meanwhile there are 40 combos of T9/J8/J7/88/77 that crush us. Most of these hands could easily be played this way by our opponent (especially the losing ones), although you could argue the strongest of the crushing ones would donk the river themselves (but sometimes they check).

So I think (???) a lot of it comes down to how well we do against some mediocre hands, such as QQ/TT/99 (assuming AA/KK would 3bet preflop after a raise and 2 calls). And those hands will probably only consider calling smallish bets. Plus factor in the times he somehow manages to fold the weaker part of his losing hands (I mean, we never play AA this way on this board, right?).

So, overall, my thinking (and I'll admit I'm not 100% convinced of this and it's possible I'm missing value overall) is that the pot is likely too big plus we should be sizing down our river bet.

Some of this also comes down to image. I mean, if we have the laggiest of images at a tight table then we should probably lean to playing for stacks. But it sounds like we have a tighter image at a loose table, so I don't think we should be leaning to this as much.

Re: 1/3 Trips line check

Results : V tank folded, muttering how bluffy this looked. He later tilted and snap called a c/jam of 300 with like 40 on the pot vs another V
So maybe jam could of worked

WP only nitpick is to size turn to shove river for slight under psb.
