1/3: Thin 1/3 PSB Value Bet on River With 2nd Pair? 1/3: Thin 1/3 PSB Value Bet on River With 2nd Pair?

I think JJ is a pretty clear value bet. Meaning, I don't think it's all that thin. This spot is much closer if you have 99.

GobbledyGeek makes a good point about opponents not knowing what your hands are. It drives people a little crazy (because they don't read hands well :/ )

I'd also make sure V shows his hand before you at showdown. He verbalizes one pair, but which pair? Did he have a draw with it? Could he have rivered his kicker for the win?

If you had 98 and you tried a bluff, most likely you'd get tank-called and you'd curse the looseness of everyone you're playing against. Make him pay here.

Also, 54 is not a missed open-ender; it is a flopped straight.
I would bet the $50 with absolutely everything in my range on the river. My missed straight draws down to my 88+ including my full houses. He has a pretty capped range on the river.

The times he calls and I turn over a busted draw only encourages him(and the table) to make that call more often in the future. The times he calls and you turn over a boat encourages him(and the table) not to bluff in the future. You kind of turn people into calling stations.

If you are so tight that he feels he can comfortably fold a pair because of the king you are too tight, and probably projecting YOUR play style onto his. People don't like to fold getting 4 to 1 on the river.
