Hi all,

1/3 game with 320 effective stacks.

V1 has me covered playing pretty loose overall. Barrels a lot. Seems to fold when played back at tho.

V2 don’t really know him he’s only been here like 20 mins

H: tightest player at the table only showed down winners

OTTH: V 1 raises UTG to 10, V2 calls, cutoff calls

I 3! To 50 with AhJh...??

V1 folds, V2 calls the 50 cutoff folds

(124) Flop Kd 8d 7h

Check I bet 45?

He calls

(214) Turn 9h

I jam for 240

Thoughts?

Its pretty funny that at least 1/3 of the threads here talk about being vs an unknown villian.

I find that a high % of the time that a flop under bet vs the pf bet gets called vs non thinking players and since you dont have anything that may not be the best bet sizing. I would have at least made it 70 giving you more of a turn psb if you planned to take that line. V can have mid pairs or KQ KJ type hands or anything really since your jamming with A high vs an unknown. Take the free turn card and hope he checks again on the river if you miss. See how he plays before blindly chucking 300+ into the middle.

I think if you're not sure why your 3bing or betting turn then it will make the hand harder to play esp with more money at risk. I'd prefer to play smaller pots until I had a better handle on villains ranges.

I think if you're going to do it you need to get not in the flip and commit to jamming any turn. Bet 80 on the flop into 124 then 190 into 284 is better.

I'd rather overcall this unless I think UTG's range is really wide in which case it's a mandatory 3! for value.

As played OTF I think we can xb and take a free card, hoping to pick up some equity or we can bet. Problem with betting is that we're going to get called a lot I think - Kx with broadways or suited, flush draws, straight draws, 99/TT. With sticky villains is that they're probably not folding any TP hand or draws to a flop bet so then we're pretty much committed OTT which is annoying when a lot of turns either don't help us or help our opponents. I'd take the free card here, if we had a real draw right now I'd bet. I'd also lean to betting on dry K-high boards since it's one of the few times I'd c-bet into 3 players (3bet pot, position, dry board, great for our perceived range).

As played OTT we picked up equity but so did our opponents with straight draws and 99/TT. Your shove should fold out all diamond draws and weaker Kx. I didn't end up here like this but if I did I don't hate it. Other choice is xb and give up unless you hit your flush / evaluate facing bets on J or A rivers. Your small sizing OTF makes the turn shove expensive, but does leave you the option of checking back and preserving your stack.

i think you played the hand great. 1/2 games are generally tight/passive so playing the opposite of that is generally a winning strat. i woulda gone a lil bigger on the flop but no big deal. turn shove is great, you get better hands to fold and you're never dead so wp sir.

Seems fine. Obv higher variance than call pre but if you think game flow warrants a 3b, then that’s cool. AQo/AQs are def squeezes so AJs is right there, can call or squeeze

Post is std, maybe you can 55 flop so you can shove turns for a psb or < psb but thats just nitpicking and doesnt rly matter

Do you guys like the squeeze overall with all the dead money in the pot?

I think it’s more plus EV than calling but not by a lot

If V1 is a loose opener then yes. Vs a nit or loose passive then no

I like it. I'd much rather go 45/jam than 80/jam, since 45 keeps their range so much wider. If I go 80 otf, I'm likely checking the turn behind, since I'm pretty sure he ain't folding.

You're describing exactly the times I'd be looking to 3bet. I think that part of the hand is fine.

The flop sizing and turn decision are what's confusing to me about the hand.
