Some reads on both you and V could be helpful here.

On this dry board I'm never folding TPTK for small bets like this, but I might raise at some point, depending on reads. Probably on the turn.

I just moved to this table after my last one broke so no reads on me and I have none on the villian at this point. This was my first hand actually after folding about 5.

Even if you don't have solid reads on V, you can get a lot of useful generalities from age, ethnicity, dress, how they handle chips, etc.

Similarly, just knowing what Vs see when you sit down help get an idea of how they might generalize you.

Also what position is V? UTG opening ranges are usually not the same as CO opening ranges. If you want good feedback, relevant info like position and basic info about Hero & Villain will help a lot.

Definitely don't fold here readless. As Garick said, it's a question of whether we can raise for value.

What does raising accomplish? He’s not calling with worse.

It depends. An average V making these small sizings vs an average hero, I agree. With hero being young and Asian, V might call a raise that he thinks is stabby.

I want to take as much chips as he wants to throw at me so I was just going to call down. I'm sure I have him beat.

I think you played the hand fine although could easily make a case for 3 betting pre , and as played what about a value raise on the turn ....maybe get value from some worse Kx type hands and 9x combos? - I mean it’s a pretty dry board ....back door spades and you don’t have a spade blocker so why not go for some value on the turn for 45 -50?

He had T9
I want to reevaluate the way I play this. I feel like similar situations like this happens to me. Sometimes I'm good and sometimes this happens which doesn't seem profitable to me. I don't like to go too crazy with tptk.

You have AK on the button. This is an easy 3bet pre.

It's ok to flat AK preflop on the button. Not all the time though. As played raise turn to $60 or so.

3bet preflop, of course. As played, I strongly consider raising turn.

The more info you post, the better feedback you'll get.

Where did Villain open? How aggro vs tight is the Villain? If he's tight and opening in EP, the more flatting preflop (perhaps bringing along a dominated blind) is ok. The more he's aggro and the more LP he's opening in, the more you should probably be 3betting to a size where you can play for these relatively small stacks on the flop (either by hitting TP or flexing our FE when we don't).

Reads also help postflop. The more tighter non-fishy bet/foldy he can be, the more we're cool with just calling down in position so he doesn't release a worse hand. The more loose bad horrible he is, the more we can think of raising at some point and playing for stacks.

Ding Ding. Or at least raise the flop or turn for crying out loud. You basically said "Hey, lets each throw in $54 and run it!" That won't result in being a winning poker player over time.
