V(UTG,$175): late 20s white man. Rec player who likes action. I saw him make moves a lot before but play standard so far.

Hero(MP,$300): probably tight image.

Preflop: V limps. Hero raises to $15 with JJ. Only V calls

Flop (33) 734r

V checks, Hero bets 20. V calls

Turn(73):8d flush draw now

V checks. Hero bets 40. V all in, about 100 more to hero.

V can have straight, two pairs or a pair with flush draw here. Hero?

Wish we hadda raised just a touch larger preflop and targetted this guys stacksize since he's the limper.

Oh well, SPR is still < 5 and guy has been known to make moves. Flop is pretty dry other than a 6/5 possibly killing action, so I'd be cool with 3 smallish 1/2 - 2/3 PSBs over 3 streets; otherwise if we want to get this done in 2 streets I'd just PSB+/shove. I'm never folding; if he put in 9% of his stack HU OOP and outflopped us, nice hand sir.

Agree that your bet sizing is the issue. You're sizing looks standard if you are just autopilot betting but it got you into no mans land. You either need to decide to set it up to play for stacks or not. If you had set up a smaller amount behind his shove would r meaningless. If you had set up more behind you could have had some options. As is I'm calling expecting to be beat a decent amount of the time. Sets, 2p (78, 34) and straights all in as you say. You beat enough to call the raise but it could have been a lot easier.

Agree bet sizing could have changed the hand. As played, I call, but it's a crying call. We are ahead of enough big draws.
