definitely not checking turn - we need to try and get something for our monster. If they fold that time then so be it. I make a normal sized bet, 25 into 45. The overbet is interesting, but I want a pair of jacks to call most of the time.

Agree that a small bet on the turn is required after checking the flop. It's worth a try to get a little more value. You might get something from one of them here , but much of the time , sadly , you will still only get two folds for your efforts.
