As played I guess we have to call. Our hand could be good against a gambooley guy and we have some outs if not.

Not really a fan of the flop check with a hand this weakish. I think with hands this weak I'd rather be the ones driving the boat, as sometimes a bet takes it down (which is an awesome result), we get to set the sizing (I'd much rather be sticking in $35 on this flop than $65), and most postflop raises against the preflop raiser are big hands (in my experience) which allows us to usually fold without much thought. I'd be much cooler with checking with a stronger hand like AA and letting someone else drive the boat against our underrepped hand, especially since AA can handle facing another bet on the turn whereas 99 will mostly hate facing one.

ETA: Totally forgot he was so short and we'll have < 1/2 PSB left if we flat (preflop has really handcuffed our play here). We're at a commitment decision here, imo. Against a gambooley guy to whom we've shown some flop weakness to, and hating a lot of turn cards, and have some outs if behind, and could be good now, I think I jam and lie in the bed preflop made us (which was often putting us in a spot where stacks would be involved with a very mediocre hand).

Against this player, we have to jam here. If we are ahead, we block some of his straight outs with his 87/76 type hands. If we are behind, we have some equity left. Add in the FE by jamming and I think it is a clear decision given the stack size. What do we get by calling? The rest is going in OTT anyway.

V2 (HJ): 30s Asian guy, gambly and spewy ($200)

Hero (UTG+1): late 20s Asian guy, nitty losing image, however much that matters ($500)

V1 opens $11 UTG. Hero looks down at 99 in UTG+1. Hero 3 bets to $35. V2 cold calls in the HJ. V1 calls.

Flop: T86 ($104)

V1 checks. Hero ???

This made the thread. Meet V2!!
Why? Bc I was going to say: flat bc you want everyone to get in. Sets are a top hand in a bloated multiway mess.

You’re UTG+1, have good odds vs many 3bet sizes, and want to set mine vs the whole table.

I don’t mind the 3bet, but I would like it way more if you were in the back 2 seats.UTG+1, I like the flat. Gross/funny flop for your hand.

I do agree with your second sentence though, I don't mind check folding here at all.
We're inflating the pot with a hand that is well ahead of his raise/call range, and will play very well post-flop against a calling station. We want to isolate players who have huge, easily exploitable leaks.

I'm not likely check/folding unless there is a large bet and a call, or any bet and a raise.

A scare card for who? We don't have a value hand here. This hand plays much better as a bluff-catcher. We only hate an A/K on the turn.
