What's up guys. Interested in your thoughts on this one.

1/3 Live NL. hero has ~$500 and has villain covered (effective stacks of about $375). villain appears to be an average but solid ABC player - doesn't appear to have gotten out of line in the hour i spent at the table. hero has played pretty standard as well - running good and has won a few pots at showdown.

Hero dealt K J in mid position (button -3).

$6 Mississippi straddle
3 limpers (including villain in mid position - BB +2)
Hero just calls
Cut off calls

Flop ($30, 5 way action) K K 8
Checks all around. Decide to slow play my monster and hope someone catches a piece of turn.

turn ($30, 5 way) - 6

Villain bets $20 (folds all around to hero)
Hero makes it $75. Villain calls

river ($180, heads up. effective stacks of ~300) 9

Villain bets $150

Hero - ??

Spoiler:
Hero raises all-in. Villain snaps and turns over pocket 8s for the boat. standard cooler?

Cawl was my snap decision, but after thinking about it further (not b/c of the spoiler, I read that right off the bat), the 9 river and the stop/go bet of nearly pot by villain reps a monster or air. If he is the type to barrel air, snap call (do not raise, no need to do that...he can't call with a worse hand other than about 3 possible combos). There's almost nothing he could be drawing to, and you have shown strength. In the moment, I probably talk myself into calling, but against described villain, this is a reasonable fold.

As played, I'd make a very reluctant call. A player with his image leading OTR is not a good sign. You are not beating much (K10?). More likely up against a boat.

I would have lead OTF, perhaps even raising pre.

thanks for the feedback guys. was a very impulsive river raise - not sure what i was thinking as he's not folding anything except complete air at that point. should have made a crying call prepared to take a beat. unlikely he would've lead out like that with K7. really only beating K 10 or complete air.

I only read the OP for this one and did not read the spoiler.

Lets consider the known/perceived facts. Villain seems fairly solid/non tricky. If your image is solid as well , then your range is heavy toward king-boat and maybe some FDs.

Lets next consider what he can be calling your raise with; maaaaaybe some FDs, a naked/similar king, or boat. I don't think hes ever spazzing the river with a busted flush draw because you're so likely to call with a king on a blank river. This gives him a heavily nutted range that has you beat or is very close, otherwise. I really think you're beat on this one more often than not. If his or your image were more bluffy, I would be leaning more toward a call.

my $0.02.

Have not read the spoler. Why not raise this pre flop? You have a decent hand with decent position and dead money in the pot?

Why are you not betting the flop? You have so many in the pot that one of them may call with a pp or an 8

Don't see what you are beating on the river tbh. You told him on the turn u have a K and he bet into you. He can beat trips
