Hi all,

Effective stack is 320

V: playing a lot of hands and generally raising them pre. He has a pretty high fold to 3 bet percentage as like he is getting 3 bet an LOL amount In this game.
Generally pretty fit or fold on the flop

H: young guy. This game is very good for a 1/3 game. Trying to be extremely nice to the recs and keep them playing. My image is probably that I’m pretty bad cuz I’m limping behind a lot of their limps in position. No one probably notices tho

OTTH: v raises UTG+2 to 12 newer player calls in the HJ I have KsJd and make it 45

V calls other guy folds

(106) Flop Jd 7s 2h

Checks to me I bet 35

He calls

176) Turn is the 6d we bet 115 thoughts on sizing? Overall

I'd size flop larger, exploitatively basically. Expecting to get called by worse a lot and want dat value before the board gets any scarier. Turn sizing looks good, getting x/rd would suck.

Flop should be $55ish. As played I like the turn sizing. And the turn is a call if you’re jammed on. Too much in there to give up.

Spoiler: V has Q’s. Check the river back.

A bit more pre, want this HU vs fit fold V
Half pot flop, and imo maybe 90 on turn. Going big narrows it to better Jx +, shoving river if he's that wide pre

I would probably just fold preflop. Yeah, guy is raising a lotta hands so a 3bet likely can't be horrible. But in the end we almost never want a big pot with KJo, cuz my guess is that when we build and lose them that these more than obliterate all the little raise-and-take-its. Although it certainly does improve our image. But I'm a nit, so whatever.

I like our small 1/3 PSB bet on this relatively drawless flop. I'm basically just hoping this ends the hand now or gets us to showdown for as cheap as possible.

When he calls the flop I check behind the turn to try to get to showdown as cheap as possible (either by bluffcatching a bet or perhaps making a small value bet myself if he checks). A turn bet builds a hugenormous $406 pot with us only having $240 left (which puts us in an awkward spot since we'll likely have to call a huge river bet and we likely can't bet/fold the river ourselves).

I mean, I guess the SPR is 3 thanks to preflop and we've flopped TP, but with this very mediocre TP2K I'm not exactly looking to commit all my chips if I can avoid it.

I prefer checking the flop, betting turn (or calling turn if V leads), and evaluating river (most likely betting if checked to, calling if V leads). This is a medium-strength hand in a 3! pot. I don't want to play for stacks. It's good to have top pair in your check back range once in a while so Vs can't automatically put you on whiffed overcards or a smaller pair.

Also, against this player, once he calls the 3! his range should be much stronger. (You did say he folded to 3! a lot previously. Unless he's fed up with it, he should have a decent hand.) So we beat QJs, JTs, 88-TT, losing to AJ, 77, JJ-QQ. We're exactly not a huge favorite against this range. A bet isn't bad, but I just don't see getting called by worse over three streets unless I think this V can make some pretty horrific call downs with JT/QJ.

I used to 3! these offsuit broadways on occasion, but it usually bit me in the a** as I'd run into the top of Vs' ranges and get owned. Don't bother anymore, I just fold.

I actually like the small flop cbet, and checking is a valid play here too. It's generally a good idea to bet small on a dry board - there aren't many bad turns for your hand, so you can wait to get your value in. TP2K isn't usually a 3-street value hand anyways, and pot controlling early on in best particularly since it's already been bloated by a 3-bet pre-flop.

As played, I would probably check the turn and try to induce a bet. The small cbet and turn check says "I missed with AK and took a stab at the pot and now I'm giving up." Not a bad lie to try to sell here with TP2K.

The turn didn't help any hands except 76 or if villain floated with just backdoor draws and now has a SD or FD, either of which might bet the river if they miss. We also have a higher chance of having a river bet called by a random Jx than on the turn, which might fold OTT if they have no other draws to go with the J.
