Hero ($280) - TAG image

V1 ($120) - Loose. Likes to see a lot of flops. Usually folds when faced with aggression, which makes me think that he has a lot of air. He has been running pretty bad, has lost over $100 to Hero and has rebuyed over $500 chips.

---

OTTH

Hero on Hijack receives KJ and opens $10, V1 calls on CO. Rest of the table folds.

Flop: 4JA ($24)

Hero Cbets $12, V1 calls

Perhaps I should've CBetted higher?

Turn: K ($48)

Hero checks, V1 bets $15, Hero calls.

FD is completed. QT could also be in his range? So perhaps Straight draw is also completed.

Perhaps going shoving from my side would have been optimal instead of just calling his bet?

River: Q ($78)

Hero checks, V1 jams $83, Hero tanks and folds.

Thoughts?

I x flop. AP, I'm betting the turn $25; we can get value from worse. X-f river AP is standard.

Why check flop?

Villain will probabily bet if I check. Id rather have the initiative?

I don't like the open preflop at these stack sizes and in this early of position. The HJ is pretty overrated in that there are still 4 players behind us (pretty much the same amount that have folded in front of us) that can easily wake up with a dominating hand, and 2 of those players will have position on us. Even a small raise at these stack sizes will put stacks in play postflop, especially if it goes multiway, and we'll rarely feel comfortable playing for stacks with any TP with this hand. If we feel we must get into a pot with the Villain, I'd prefer an open limp here.

I'm fine with our small cbet. We're not exactly WA/WB due to the drawyness of the board and the looseness of the player.

Thanks to our preflop raise, we've put ourselves in an awkward spot on the turn in that we may feel we're committed (there's only 2x PSB left with 2 streets of betting left); had we limped, we wouldn't be handcuffed by commitment. So thanks to that, there's probably an argument for betting large and going with our hand. Even just a 1/2 PSB leaves us with just a 3/4 PSB left for the river; feeling committed? Overall against a loose losing player I'd probably lean towards a bet on the turn, although sizing is a difficult at this point. As played (checking), I'm definitely not folding, but again commitment is an issue; even facing this lol 1/3 PSB we're only going to leave ourselves with a PSB left for the river. Now what?

Given this craptastic river card and the fact he's still betting I think we do now have an easier check/fold on the river. But would have been a much interesting decision had a blank come.

We're not getting three streets as is, so we're gonna have to check at some point unimproved. There isn't a lot we can get value from otf. If this villain is calling raises wide, and then playinh super aggressively post flop, then that's reason to just fold this pre.
