Hi all,

Good 1/3 game meaning lots of spots and of course I’m OOP against 3 of the biggest spots in the game. I think that’s okay though as I don’t really like seat changing/ it’s bad for the game.

History: I’ve opened like 10 buttons in a row. The lady on my direct left is pretty loose. She’s very friendly. I think she’s pretty sticky but seems to always think I have it.

She has done a fair amount of leading into the PFR. Her small bets always are typical weakish hands.

OTTH: we are around 500 deep.

Folds to me on the button I open Kd9x for 10 she calls BB calls

Flop (30) Ad 5d 8h

She bets 15

We raise to 45?

I normally never really get out of line in general but I think we can rep diamonds a lot here and can continue with other cards. Plus what in the world does she have?

She calls
(120) Turn 7d she checks and says “be careful” I bet 110

She calls

(340) River Kh

We regret opening this hand and check back

Not sure if I am setting up a bluff vs old ladies in 1/3. Seems slightly less profitable that doing the same to OMCs. IMO, once she calls the turn bet, she is rarely getting away from her hand, so if you bink...... fire big. If not, move on and evaluate. The good thing is many females will show you their hands if coaxed. Offer to pay a red bird and it works pretty well.

She leads from the SB after calling your hand.
I just don’t see her having bluffs there.
What could she have?
Well, alot of value that need protection.
A5, A8, AX, 55, 88.....
She always seens to think you have it.... and now she is dk betting a multiway pot?
Also... what do WE have?
2 overcards to the 8, a BDFD and K high.
I’m folding this hand with no regrets. We have alot more combos on the BTN to make this raise.
FDs, 2ps, sets, OESD, GS.....

Given that she called from the SB, probably a lot of Ax. (If she's calling with A2o+ as many players would, she'll have an ace here at least a third of the time. And if she wouldn't donk with air, assuming she donks any pair or 8-out draw, it's Ax like 90% of the time)

I'd rather bluff a non-A-high board, where V's range is less likely to have hit hard, where there are more bad runouts for top pair, and where we might have equity with an overcard.

What sort of range do you put her on for the donk? I expect mostly weak AX but the wider her range the better I like the idea. Does she have any donks with flush draws? Against certain villains flat call flop and then give up turn when the flush comes in and hammer it if the flush doesn't is better.

In general I like the idea in general but I don't like the way you did it. I agree with giving up on the river here. You already made 2 expensive bets and she didn't give up. Your hand has some show down value now, it's better to take it.

I think the problem with the way you played this is that you are not representing a flush draw to villain. When you raise the flop you are representing a good AX or better to villain and she has something that she thinks is good vs that. When the flush comes in on the turn she isn't concerned. If you wanted to represent the flush it would have been better to flat flop and then bet the turn so it looks like you called on the flop with a draw.

When in Rome obviously, but my guess is there's lots of people jumping seats for a wide variety of reasons (often as innocent as comfort / can see the TV better / want to sit next to their friend / etc.). In these types of environments you should be able to sit in the seat you want if you do it tactfully enough.

I'm ok with pretty much anything preflop here except probably a big raise. So I'd be fine with a small raise like we did, or an open limp, or even a fold.

Just fold the flop, imo. She's donked into two people and most donkers don't donk/fold, so there's a very good chance we'll end up on the turn with no equity.

If our plan is to continue to bluff, there is no reason to bet so much on the turn; we can always ramp up our river bluff size if we think we need to, imo. ETA: Totally missed the fact we picked up the flush draw; since the flush draw is a decent part of her range, I think this would be more reason to check back and see if we can bink.

We now have some showdown value on the river (against a busted 76 for example) so I'm fine with checking back (although obviously we rarely win).

I'd suggest at the very least to only start bluffing when we have some equity (if we're bluffing loose players at all). We don't have to win every pot we're in / built preflop, it's fine to give up.

I find tapping the table and saying "nice bluff" works for cheaper.

You are toast. The minute she calls your flop raise, you should just give up. The minute she says, "Be careful," you should muck.

If you are ahead on the river, you can own her forever.
