Hero is 27 WG shortstacking 50$ buyins, folding a ton waiting for AQs+(aq/o and rarely ajsuited depending on v)/99/1010+ jam/folding 95% of the time. has been at table for 1 hour, table seems predictable and no one has shown down any slow played limped hands. I've folded down to 12 bb getting dead hands. Probably should just top off but I don't mind the variance at this action venue and have been learning more about playing super short. I haven't shown down any hands yet and nobody knows me, I don't show off that i'm a thinking player.

~Hand 1~
Utg, and utg+1 limp a lot no matter the position. There are no other good players at the table that I've noticed so far which is common for this California card room inside a casino.

7 limps to hero in the sb with k7o (36 eff)

hero think about the pf chart briefly thinks he remember its ok and pushes all in all villains cover.

(now ive seen these pf charts from tournament players but I wasn't sure if they were really accurate for a live low staked 9 handed game. Does that change anything?)

I'll admit I don't know the hands we should be pushing with here this shallow. But just a couple of things to keep in mind:

- $36 after 7 limpers will have no FE (seriously, someone is looking us up, which is likely not the case in a tourney setting where 12bb can often be a decent percentage of someone's stack)
- while I can understand the benefits of shortstacking (and I'm somewhat doing it myself nowadays at a 66 bb stack), I would recommend topping up after every hand to whatever stack you're playing ($50 seems too short for me at a 1/3 NL game, but if that's what you're going with, then just top off to $50 after every hand)

Thanks, I agree theres maybe like 7% FE but theres a lot of dead money out there so even if we get called by ace rag I think its +ev still. I thought 50 was too short too but for some reason the mind set of the players here is that 50 isn't that much money when I push all in. I should probably do like 65 though. I get called with a super wide range of hands whereas if I push with 100~ I get a lot more scared passive folds and when youre waiting an hour for a hand sometimes this is super painful. Players here love to open to 20 with low broadways and I always punish with the tighter range at 17bb~ have been called recently by q-9 , kj, k-8, even 910 etc pretty wild card room.

First off, your range is ridiculously tight. You're missing a ton of profitable hands if you're only playing {AQs+,99+}. It's no wonder you're getting blinded out.

And now you're deciding to play a complete trash hand, K7o? There's no way everyone folds and when you get called you're almost always behind at least one person, sometimes way behind. The dead money helps a bunch, but it doesn't make up for the times you go multi-way with a hand that has horrible equity.

@brownie Well I thought you are forced to play tighter at full ring games, that's really what im confused about I guess. The k7o was a rare play based off some chart I saw and that's why I posted. Im much more attuned to 100bb that's why im looking for feedback but you didn't really help me that much please be more specific. VIllains limping range is horrible and they are all loose-passive and always open broadways,( 7/7+/J10+?) the range of limped hands that have me crushed are pretty small actually

In a tournament because both blinds and antes are eating up your stack when your short you reach the point you have to shove in a situation like this. It's -EV on it's own but the chance of you getting a better hand to shove before being blinded out is worse, so not shoving is even worse -EV in terms of the tournament overall.

In cash each hand is independent because you can always top up. Because of this the shoving charts for tournaments are wrong for cash. It can be useful to look at them to get an idea of when you should call a shove based on what you think opponents shoving range is but not for when you should shove.

I'm not going to give you a specific range for playing because it's very situational. But from LP if you are opening the pot AQs+/99+ is way too tight.

This has to be a troll, right? What is even your question, OP?

I mean it's your money so you can play 17BB cap if you really want to and your casino allows it, but I'd say it has very little to do with actual poker if anything, because instead of 4 streets, you're playing 1, at most 2.

If I shoved 17bb (12 actually by the time this hand takes place) with K7o in a cash game (vs 7 limpers from the small blind) multi-way I'd only want to play one street myself.

The street outside the casino.

Pokerstove says, with K7o, we have 11.8% against seven random hands.

Each of the seven random hands have...

...

12.5%
