1/3 MS game
There is a clear in-game dynamic between hero and villain that has been developing for several hours. Villain has been ordering drinks constantly and has begun singing/dancing at the table. He is also playing 90% of hands, mostly limping. Hero has been punishing with large preflop raises to iso villain with any sort of value hand and villain has been calling these $40-$60 preflop raises around 75% of the time. A couple of prior hand histories:

Limped straddle pot with 5 players, flop: Q-8-7 rainbow. EP limper leads for $20, V calls, Hero raises to $50 IP, EP folds and V calls. Turn is an A, V checks and H bets $70, V calls. River is a 10 and V checks, H bets $150, V calls with Q2 off and is good.

Hero straddles on button, 4 limps and Hero checks. Flop is 2-4-5 rainbow. Checks to Hero who bets $25, Villain is only one to call. Turns is a 6 and brings a club draw. Villain leads for $75 and Hero repops to $250. Villain folds.

No straddle, Hero raises UTG with AQ to $20, only V calls on button. flop is Q-4-2 with two spades. Hero bets $35 and V calls. Turn is a 3 offsuit. Hero bets $80 and V calls. River is a 5 offsuit. Hero bets $200 and V calls and is good with 4-6 off.

No straddle, V is in HJ and opens for $25, gets caller in CO and limp/caller in EP. Flop is A-Q-3. V continues for $50, CO calls. River and turn go check/check and V is good with JJ.

The hand history in question is very different from previous hands played because (a) hero is OOP, and (b) villain is showing more aggression.

Hand History:
Villain has $700 in CO. Hero covers in SB.

One limp to V in CO, who raises to $15. Hero calls from SB with Ad9c, BB calls.

Flop: AsJh3h

Checks to V who bets $30, Hero calls others fold.

Turn: Kd

Check to V who bets $80, hero calls.

River: Ac

Check to V who announces $400.

Hero tries to talk to V but he quiets up and goes into a literal shell, having his hoodie cover his head while he looks at the felt in front of him and takes occasional sips of his drink. Very very different from his usual boisterous drunk self.

I'm not great with physical tells so I'm not sure if this is strength or weakness. Huge overbet seems to polarize him to the nuts or nothing. Best guess of his range here and whether it represents strength or weakness?

Fold pre. Seriously. You have position on this guy almost all the time, and he's almost always limping. Now he is raisng pre and you have a crap hand OOP. Just fold.

This is why. Now fold river. His clamming up means he is taking this hand very seriously, which means his range is like 75% AK, 20% other boats, 5% some crap (post) like QQ but he doesn't believe you have an ace and or thinks you might fold one.

Your description of your play against villain does not match the hand histories you included.

First you bluff away a chunk of your stack.
Then you bluff him on the turn (but first you fail to raise on the button to iso him).
Then you try to value town him all the way and given your over aggression the river, actually give him the implied odds to call the turn and get lucky he doesn't raise the river.
And now you call out of position with a junk hand and not only do you call him all the way, but you consider calling a bit river bet when his demeanor totally changes (he didn't raise you with a straight earlier!).

Garick already pointed out the most obvious advice: fold this hand preflop. if you're not going to fold, fold anyways.

I echo folding pre with a trouble hand oop in a raised pot.

Fold river. Villain didn't even raise his 46 hand when he rivered the nuts and you could/did have a wheel to pay him off. You're saying here you have an Ace after calling turn and he still bombed river. Don't pay him off.

To be clear, we've been playing together for 5 hours so I didn't think it was worthwhile to list out 15 hands where I raised pre and he either folded or we checked it down. That's why I summarized the dynamic and only included HHs that were exceptions.
